Taylor Farms recalls jalapeño products in 26 states over salmonella

Unfortunately, it sounds like the latter has been unleashed on America, as everyone's favorite source of cyclospora, Taylor Farms, has issued a recall of its products containing jalapeños.
Over on the Food and Drug Administration's website, the agency's recall notice details the fact that jalapeños, allegedly harvested in Mexico, have been recalled due to the risk of salmonella contamination:
"Taylor Fresh Foods Recall (8/9): Multiple products containing recalled jalapeños. Stores that received recalled products include Hannaford, Kroger, Stop and Shop, Target, Trader Joe's, Walmart, and Whole Foods."
The recalled jalapeños went to retail distribution centers in AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NE, NH, NY, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, VT, WI, and WV, with a "Best If Used By" date up to and including August 16, 2026. Taylor Fresh Foods says it's no longer sourcing from that farmer and will fill orders from alternative suppliers. The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service also issued a public health alert for meat and poultry products containing the same FDA-regulated jalapeños, which may be contaminated with salmonella. Consumers can check FSIS's website for a list of affected products.
So, if you live in any of those states or bought Taylor Farms products that contain jalapeños, watch out. It can take between 12 hours and three days before the symptoms of a salmonella infection take hold. If you're lucky, you'll only suffer diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. But it's possible for salmonella to result in a serious infection. So, don't screw around. If you think you've been made sick by contaminated food, seek medical help.
