Apple wants a judge to stop OpenAI from building its AI device

Apple told a court this week that 11 other former employees may have been witnesses or otherwise involved in its trade secrets case against OpenAI, on top of the two it named in the original complaint. Apple is also asking the judge to stop OpenAI from building an AI device based on its technology.

One former employee "took screenshots of confidential Apple documents relating to an unannounced Apple product before an interview at OpenAI," the filing states. Another, Apple says, met two OpenAI-bound colleagues beforehand and discussed "Apple proprietary information relating to unannounced products." After the complaint was filed, several former staffers now at OpenAI asked about returning Apple work devices they had kept.

OpenAI called the injunction request "both based on false information and completely unnecessary because we do not have, nor want, any of their trade secrets."
