Meta patented a wearable that listens all day to guess your feelings

by · Boing Boing

Meta has patented a wearable that listens to you all day and guesses how you feel. As 404 Media reports, the device would continuously record audio and surroundings, then use AI to read your emotional state from "sighs, laughter" and other vocal cues, ostensibly to fine-tune workout suggestions.

Along the way it would log your location, the objects around you, and the moments you take your medication. The patent promises "continuous emotional monitoring on everyday devices." 404's Matthew Gault writes: "Meta wants to tell you how you feel and it'll use your own voice to do it." He calls a gadget that records every sound you make while tracking your exact location "a privacy nightmare."
