Defrag your computer like it's 1998

Defrag98 is a fully-featured Windows 98 Disk Defrag tool simulator "faithfully reborn in your browser," complete with teal backdrop, bitmap-fonted gray user interface, and even the hollow clicks of a Microsoft Intellimouse. Once you click start, you are treated to the soothing grind of a Western Digital Caviar. This pleasantly nostalgic time-waster is the work of Dennis Morello.

You just defragmented a disk that hasn't existed in 25 years, and if those colorful blocks snapping into place scratched an itch you forgot you had, this one's for you.

defrag98.com is free and has no ads, and I'd like to keep it that way. The catch is that the domain and hosting come out of my own pocket, and right now I'm just trying to cover this year's bill. A coffee gets me a piece of the way there, and it's the little signal that says "keep making these," which is honestly what keeps me building them.

Modern solid-state drives don't need defragmenting, and modern operating systems automatially defrag hard drives as they go.
