SKUAST-K organises skill development training at GDC Sopore - Greater Kashmir

Baramulla, Oct 23: The Division of Agricultural Economics & Statistics, FoA, Wadura, SKUAST-K, held a one-week skill development training programme at Government Degree college, Sopore on Tuesday.

The programme titled as “Applied Statistics and Machine Learning in Agriculture and Allied Sciences” and “ Statistical Software Ventures in Data Analysis”, under Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) scheme. These training programmes aimed to develop skills among the participants in Machine Learning tools and their applications in various employment-generating pursuits.

   

The trainees will be imparted with knowledge and skills in Applied Statistics and Machine Learning in Agriculture & Allied Sciences, to opt it as a career choice, due to its applications in customer insights & operational efficiency.

On this occasion, the speakers said that the demand for Data scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and AI specialists is growing rapidly. Additionally, new roles are emerging in areas like AI ethics, Data Privacy and the development of Machine Learning applications.

“The job market is witnessing a continuous shift in the required skill. Thus, these two training programmes, sponsored by MSME, are imparted to make students understand the importance of soft skills in the present era and make them change their mindset from becoming Job seekers to job providers and develop entrepreneurial and managerial attitudes amongst them,” said one of the speakers.

The Coordinator of the training programme, Prof Showkat Maqbool presented the insights & the importance of these programmes.

The programme was conducted under the chairpersonship of the Dean, FoA, who gave the insights.

On this occasion, the Dean, FoA, Prof. (Dr.) Rehana Habib Kant highlighted the importance of these training programmes for the youth. She appraised the participants about the efforts of the University in general and the Faculty of Agriculture in particular, in imparting much-needed training to youth of the area, about scope of entrepreneurship in Agriculture & Allied activities.
