In pictures: Two new bar venues open in Bristol

Two new bar venues have opened up in Bristol, taking over former popular sites for drinks in the city.

The first is The Two Suns pub on Gloucester Road which, up until recently, was The Cider Press. Having opened last Friday (September 11) The Two Suns is the latest addition to the portfolio of local Bristol pub operators' Guerrilla Pubs, which is behind the likes of The Sportsman, The Shakespeare, The Cadbury and The Farm.

Julian McLauchlan, managing director at Guerrilla Pubs, said: “The Cider Press has a great location on one of Bristol’s most characterful streets, and we saw a real opportunity to give it some proper love as The Two Suns.

“Every pub we take on has its own character and personality, and we want to build on that rather than change what makes it special. It’s about understanding the pub, the neighbourhood and the people who use it to create somewhere that feels like it belongs.

“We want The Two Suns to be a proper local - somewhere you can pop in for a pint, meet your mates and feel part of the place. Gloucester Road has a brilliant independent spirit and strong sense of community.”

The pub has had a revamp to its exterior and interior as part of its new era.

On Park Street, a new cocktail bar and night club venue opened its doors last Saturday (Sept 12), in the former home of Illuminati, part of which was turned into the home of drag diner Dorothy's in November 2025.

Dubbed 'Bristol's most Instagrammable venue' and 'most talked about secret', Bloom promises 'beautiful cocktails, cherry blossoms, late-night dancing and far too many pictures for the group chat'. Ahead of its opening, the Instagram profile already has several posts in pink floral colour schemes, detailing 'four rooms, four vibes, one night out'.
