While Microsoft Rewards has received a fair amount of criticism recently for lowering the Weekly Console Bonus payout for players in the UK and other nerfs, we have something a little more fun to talk about today: the Microsoft Rewards $1 million Ultimate Giveaway.

Microsoft Rewards has a $1 million first-place prize in latest sweepstakes

As revealed in the Rewards Hub on Xbox via a new Microsoft Rewards Notes, a new Ultimate Giveaway sweepstakes is now available, offering up some big cash prizes for the winners. The sweepstakes, which is live now and runs until December 31, will see the grand prize winner take home $1,000,000 (around £762,295.00 GBP / €902,770.00 EUR / $1,359,650.00 CAD) and 10 second place winners will win $10,000 (around £7,622.95 GBP / €9,027.70 EUR / $13,596.50 CAD).

You can check out all the details on the Ultimate Giveaway FAQ, but it's open to Microsoft Rewards members located in the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, UK, France, and Germany who have "reached at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction."

To be in with a chance of winning the big bucks, head to the Ultimate Giveaway page on the Microsoft Rewards website to join the sweepstakes. Each user can only earn up to 200 entries for the sweepstakes, and there are a multitude of ways to earn those entries. You can earn one free entry by filling out a free entry form, and purchase a further five entries for 2,000 Microsoft Rewards points. Spending $25 or more on the Microsoft Store in a single purchase will also net you another five entries, and so too will purchasing 1,100 Call of Duty Points. For the rest, Microsoft will be offering various activities each week that you can complete to earn the remaining entries, such as installing Bing on your mobile.

Earlier this year, Microsoft shut down the Microsoft Rewards App on Xbox, moving the service to a dedicated Rewards hub. The switchover has led to a host of changes to the service, not all of which have been positive. Will you be getting involved with the Ultimate Giveaway? Let us know down in the comments.
