Mahindra Thar Roxx Spied – DaVinci Dampers?

Mahindra Auto has been the leader in India’s lifestyle SUV segment with Thar and Thar Roxx. The 3-Door Thar was just updated with new attributes, capabilities and then a new name. Now called Thar OG, this facelift packed a host of mechanical updates which even the Thar Roxx still does not get.

We’re talking about the more sophisticated DaVinci suspension system that Thar OG now packs, sharing technology and comfort ethos with much more expensive XUV7XO. Being positioned above the Thar OG, Thar Roxx is expected to get these suspension upgrades and latest test mules suggest just that.

2026 Mahindra Thar Roxx Spied Testing

Thar Roxx DaVinci Suspension

Mahindra has been testing Thar Roxx and the test mule sighting frequency has been increasing. Latest spy shots show Thar Roxx from the rear, but do not immediately show what the changes are. That could be because the updates these Thar Roxx test mules are testing, might be under the surface and not visible on a passing glance.

Currently, Thar Roxx already comes equipped with a host of suspension technologies that are not seen in rival lifestyle SUVs. These include penta-link rear suspension along with FDD (Frequency Dependant Dampers) which promise a sophisticated and comfortable ride, while not compromising on brute off-road capability.

Mahindra Thar OG

Recently launched Thar OG one-upped Thar Roxx with Mahindra’s DaVinci suspension system which we first experienced with XUV7XO in Jaisalmer. Many confuse DaVinci suspension and FDD with each other, but they work differently and are usually associated together in Mahindra vehicles.

How is DaVinci Suspension Better?

Standard frequency dependent dampers operate on a linear damping curve, adjusting oil flow based on the road surface. This uses a mechanical valve that opens on bad road surfaces and closes on smooth roads. One limitation with standard FDD is its linear damping curve, which is not very effective during hard cornering and large impacts.

Mahindra’s DaVinci dampers are basically frequency dependent dampers, but they feature uniquely designed mechanical valves. Especially, the shim stack design and positioning which allows for non-linear damping curve allowing varied oil flow at different point of damper’s travel. This technology counters for sudden and larger impacts along with sharp cornering.

Mahindra has not yet confirmed the launch of Thar Roxx with DaVinci damping tech, but it is only logical, considering Thar Roxx is positioned for comfort and practicality, while Thar OG takes the role of a dedicated hard-core off-roader. Updated Thar Roxx with DaVinci suspension is expected to launch soon.
