Kia India reported total domestic sales of 27,586 units in May 2026, registering a healthy year-on-year growth of 23.6% compared to 22,315 units sold in May 2025. On a month-on-month basis, sales were largely stable, increasing by 1.1% over the 27,286 units sold in April 2026.

The growth was led by Seltos and Carens Clavis, both of which posted strong gains during the month. Sonet continued to be a key contributor to the company’s volumes, while Syros witnessed a significant decline compared to its launch phase last year.

Seltos emerged as Kia’s top-selling model once again. In May 2026 Seltos sales were at 10,597 units. Compared to 6,082 units sold in May 2025, Seltos recorded a substantial growth of 74.2%, adding 4,515 additional units. The SUV accounted for 38.4% of Kia’s total sales during the month.

On a month-on-month basis, Seltos sales remained almost unchanged, increasing marginally from 10,566 units in April 2026 to 10,597 units in May. The strong performance suggests that the midsize SUV continues to witness healthy demand despite increasing competition in the segment.

Sonet Continues Strong Run

Sonet secured second position with sales of 9,707 units in May 2026. The compact SUV posted a year-on-year growth of 20.5% over 8,054 units sold in May last year. While Sonet remained one of Kia’s volume drivers with a 35.2% contribution to total sales, it witnessed a slight month-on-month decline of 7.9% compared to 10,537 units sold in April 2026. Combined, Seltos and Sonet contributed nearly 74% of Kia India’s total sales during the month.

Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV together registered sales of 6,208 units in May 2026, recording a growth of 37.2% compared to 4,524 units sold in the same month last year. The MPV lineup also witnessed healthy month-on-month growth of 13.6%, adding 743 units over April’s tally of 5,465 units. With a market share of 22.5% in Kia’s overall portfolio, Carens Clavis continues to gain traction among family car buyers.

Syros registered sales of 961 units in May 2026. While this represented a strong month-on-month growth of 73.5% over 554 units sold in April, the model posted a steep year-on-year decline of 73.4%. Kia Carnival recorded sales of 113 units in May 2026, compared to 44 units in May 2025. This translated into a year-on-year growth of 156.8%, the highest among Kia’s lineup.

Outlook

With Seltos crossing the 10,000-unit mark and Carens Clavis continuing to gain momentum, Kia India’s portfolio remains well balanced across SUV and MPV segments. The company also maintained stable month-on-month volumes despite a slight decline in Sonet sales. Kia is expected to launch new gen Sonet in 2027, but before that they will launch Sorento and Seltos Hybrid.
