Next Gen Kia Sonet New LEDs Spied During High Altitude Testing
by Akshay Kulkarni · RushLaneKia India is on the verge of launching a new Sonet in the country and the company has commenced testing in India as well as in foreign markets. Latest spy shots from Harsh VLOGS show the upcoming Sub 4m SUV testing in the Himalayan region, suggesting high altitude testing ahead of its launch.
New Sonet Spied Testing
Ahead of its launch, Sonet has been spied testing in high altitude conditions. Latest spy shots show a new gen Sonet test mule fully wrapped with fabric-type camouflage on type of regular wrap-style camouflage to hide its identity.
Not a lot can be seen from these spy shots, but we can imagine what the overall product could like and these new spy shots paint a clear picture. For starters, we can see that this is not just a facelift and is more of a generational change with significant changes to its sheet metal, platform and basic structure.
The doors are entirely new and all the core structure behind these doors are new too. Doors are now angular and both front and rear doors are revised. Front fascia is now fully revised with next gen Kia Sonet and we can see revised lighting signature too. Headlights are now of split design and actual headlamps are below, while LED DRLs reside above.
Bonnet looks like a clamshell unit and the wheels look like they’re 17-inchers (or even 18-inchers), while packing a new design. ORVMs are also new with revised design. There are front and rear parking sensors and then we can see 360-cameras and then a dedicated camera for ADAS. There is a possibility of Sonet offering Level-2 ADAS like new Venue.
What to expect?
At the rear, we can see an all-new tail light signature that is not connected in design. High-mount stop light also looks wider than current model. On the inside, dual 12.3-inch screen dashboard is likely to be in the next gen Sonet and then we can expect new materials and dashboard design.
Where features and equipment are concerned, next gen Kia Sonet could offer front and rear ventilated seats, advanced telematics, powered driver seat, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charger, auto-dimming IRVM, sliding and reclining rear seat, premium audio system, maybe a panoramic sunroof and more.
Powering the next gen Kia Sonet are likely to be the same set of powertrains as current model. These include a 1.2L 4-cyl NA Petrol along with a 1.0L 3-cylinder Turbo Petrol engine options and then a 1.5L 4-cylinder Turbo Diesel engine with both Manual and Automatic gearbox options. Launch could happen in 2027.
