2026 Vinfast VF 8 Patented In India – Launch Planned?

This could either be an IP protection exercise or launch intention. If launched, it will be positioned above VF 7 as the company’s flagship offering. However, VF 7 offers more equipment.
It has to be noted that 2nd Gen VF 8 is their first-ever 2nd Gen model in their lineup and the rest of its portfolio is still in their 1st Gen versions. With their 2nd Gen VF 8 Vinfast is also showcasing their new design future and interior layouts. Let’s take a closer look.
2026 Vinfast VF 8 Patented
Vinfast debuted in India with the launch of VF 6 and VF 7 and even more recently, Vinfast launched VF MPV 7 for a price tag of Rs 24.49 lakh (Ex-sh). Now, Vinfast might launch VF 8 in India, as suggested by the recent design patents. The new model is smaller in size and has a smaller battery and only comes with FWD layout.
Design is the main talking point of 2026 Vinfast VF 8 as it debuts the company’s more modern design language. A more striking fascia, full-width wing-shape LED DRLs with Vinfast logo in the middle, large gloss Black grille and other attributes are notable. Rear design of VF 8 shows a large black applique with connected LED tail lights and a V insignia.
19-inch aero wheel design, semi-flush door handles, some chrome highlights on window line and other attributes are notable. While the preceding model had an elegant flair, new model brings sportiness into the equation.
Dimensionally, New Gen Vinfast VF 8 measures 4,701 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, 1,670 mm in height and has a 2,840 mm long wheelbase and 170 mm ground clearance. Which is 49 mm shorter in length, 62 mm narrower in width and 110 mm shorter in wheelbase. Height has gone up by 3 mm and ground clearance up by 8 mm with the new model.
What to expect?
There is a thorough interior redesign with 2026 Vinfast VF 8. Taking centre stage is the infotainment screen, which has gone down to a 12.9-inch unit and the speaker count has reduced as well. There is no panoramic sunroof with the new model, which the predecessor got in some markets.
An addition is the TFT driver’s instrument cluster and Vinfast has given a new steering wheel to 2nd Gen VF 8. Gear selector remains in the steering column. Notable features include ADAS, dual-zone climate control, memory function for driver’s seat, 360-degree cameras and more.
2nd Gen Vinfast VF 8 gets the smaller 60.13 kWh battery pack promising 500 km range. In comparison, the preceding model offered 87.7 kWh battery option with 562 km range. Also, preceding model offered AWD option too, which new VF 8 does not. That said, new 2nd Gen model has 228 bhp and 330 Nm with FWD model, which is 18 bhp and 20 Nm more.
