India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturers reported broadly positive sales in August 2026, with the top six brands together accounting for more than 24.40 lakh units across domestic and export markets. Combined sales increased 12.96% YoY and 4.77% MoM.

The biggest development continues to be TVS Motor’s position at the top of the overall sales chart. After emerging as the largest two-wheeler manufacturer by total sales in July 2026, TVS has retained the No. 1 position for the second consecutive month in August.

Domestic Sales – Hero Leads, Honda Close Behind

Hero MotoCorp remained the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the domestic market with 5,42,305 units sold in August 2026. Sales increased 4.46% from 5,19,139 units last year and were up 8.16% MoM. Honda followed closely with domestic sales of 5,17,329 units, registering 7.55% YoY and 8.58% MoM growth. The difference between Hero and Honda stood at just 24,976 units during the month.

TVS was third with 4,33,796 units. It recorded a strong 17.60% YoY increase, although sales declined marginally by 0.82% compared to July. Bajaj recorded domestic sales of 2,01,898 units, up 9.66% YoY and a strong 21.81% MoM. Royal Enfield followed with 1,14,204 units, registering 11.01% YoY growth, while Suzuki sold 1,13,936 units, up 10.49% YoY.

Exports – Bajaj Maintains Huge Lead

The rankings change considerably when exports are considered. Bajaj was comfortably the largest exporter with 2,41,850 units shipped overseas in August. Exports surged 53.28% YoY and 8.47% MoM, giving Bajaj a massive 46.76% share among these six brands.

TVS was second with exports of 1,57,641 units, up 29.29% YoY but down 4.89% MoM. Honda exported 61,833 units, recording 14.85% YoY growth. Hero exports declined 24.56% YoY to 26,093 units, while Suzuki exports fell 21.58% to 17,493 units. Royal Enfield exported 12,275 motorcycles, registering 10.33% YoY growth.

Total Sales – TVS Retains No. 1 Position

Combining domestic sales and exports puts TVS at the top for the second consecutive month. TVS recorded total sales of 5,91,437 units in August 2026, up 20.51% YoY. Its 24.23% share was the highest among the six manufacturers.

Honda ranked second with 5,79,162 units, up 8.28% YoY, followed by Hero at 5,68,398 units with 2.65% growth. Just 23,039 units separated TVS and Hero, highlighting how close the battle at the top has become. Bajaj was fourth at 4,43,748 units, recording the strongest YoY growth among the top four at 29.79%.

Suzuki stood at 1,31,429 units, while Royal Enfield registered 1,26,479 units. Together, these six manufacturers sold 24,40,653 two-wheelers in August 2026, up 12.96% from 21,60,690 units a year earlier. Compared to July 2026, combined volumes increased 4.77%.
