New Hyundai Bayon Rendered

In India, the new Bayon is expected to be a midsize SUV offering, positioned between the Venue and the Creta

Hyundai is working on the new Bayon, which will be available in India, Europe and the Middle East. Test vehicles have been spotted in India as well as overseas. New Bayon is expected to make its global debut by year-end, whereas sales could start in early 2027. Ahead of that, a new digital render provides a clear view of the SUV.

New Hyundai Bayon – Sportier presence

As evident in the render images, the updated Hyundai Bayon adopts a more traditional CUV-inspired design. In India, the Bayon is expected to be around 4,200 mm in length. The current Bayon sold in Europe is 4,180 mm long. Similar to other new or updated Hyundai models, the new Bayon has a boxy aesthetic and a more angular profile.

One can also notice a more upright front fascia, which adds greater visual presence to the CUV. In the render, the new Bayon gets angular LED DRLs and vertically positioned headlamps. The crossover has a blacked-out grille with horizontal slats and a sculpted bonnet. Side profile has wheel arch cladding, sporty alloy wheels, body cladding and flush door handles.

Window frames bend sharply, while the beltline rises towards the rear, merging seamlessly with the roof and rear pillars. New Bayon can be seen with blacked-out pillars in the render images. Other highlights include dual-tone ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, flush door handles and distinctive sheet-metal sculpting on the door panels. At the rear, the lighting elements have the same basic format as seen at the front. A more upright tailgate hints at the presence of a spacious boot.

Interior features

Since the new Bayon will be positioned in India as a relatively affordable midsize option in comparison to Creta, it may not get the advanced Pleos infotainment and connectivity suite. Expected features with the new Bayon include dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster. For enhanced practicality, physical buttons are expected to be provided for frequently used controls and functions.

New Bayon is expected to have OTA updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a comprehensive range of connectivity features. Higher-spec variants are expected to get features like a head-up display, wireless smartphone charging, keyless entry and ambient lighting. Interiors are expected to be roomier, as compared to the current model. Safety will be enhanced with a comprehensive suite of Level 2 ADAS features.

It is expected that the new Bayon will be built on an enhanced version of Hyundai’s K-platform architecture. With improved structural rigidity and new additions to the safety package, the new Bayon could get a higher NCAP score. The current model tested in 2021 had scored 4-stars in Euro NCAP.

Performance

Hyundai Bayon is currently equipped with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine that generates 99 hp. The new Bayon could get a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol 4-cylinder engine, integrated with a 48V mild hybrid setup. This will help comply with stricter emission norms in Europe. New Bayon could also get a full hybrid option in Europe. This could be a 140 hp powertrain, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
