Next Gen Hyundai Creta Sheds Boxy Camo – Reveals New Design Details

New-gen Creta (SX3 codename) has been spied again during road tests, this time in southern Spain. It is reported that the test mule is likely getting evaluated for hot weather conditions. The towing dyno at the back also reveals that the new Creta is undergoing tow-capacity testing and an assessment of the vehicle’s performance under continuous load.
New Creta exteriors spied
Until now, all spy shots of the Creta were seen the test car wearing boxy camo at the front as well as rear. But now, it has shed that and is seen with just a camo wrap, giving us a better understanding of its exterior design.
New Creta follows Hyundai’s latest ‘Art of Steel’ design language. This has resulted in sharper and more angular lines for the SUV. The test mule can be seen with an upright front fascia and a boxy silhouette. H-styled top mounted LED DRLs are expected to be used in combination with LED projector headlamps, flanking the new grille. A prominent bumper with slatted elements is likely.
Side profile reveals a slanted roofline, flush door handles, circular wheel arches and sporty dual-tone machined alloy wheels. At the rear, key features include a roof mounted spoiler, a raked windshield, a flat boot lid and a chunky bumper. H-styled tail lamps are expected to be used, something similar to the DRLs at the front.
Substantial tech updates – Pleos, Software Defined Vehicle (SDV)
New-gen Creta is expected to witness a major technological evolution. This includes Creta’s transition to a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV). It will ensure continuous updates throughout the lifecycle of the vehicle. Users can expect to get new features and improvements via OTA updates, without requiring any changes to the hardware.
New Creta is also expected to get the Pleos Connect system. A primary central screen integrates various functions of the infotainment and instrument cluster. This screen has three core sections, making it easier for users to find the info they need. Pleos system also includes a slimmer digital display mounted on the dashboard, behind the steering wheel. This display focuses on essential driving data such as speed and turn-by-turn navigation.
Hybrid power, eAWD, V2L
Another important update for new-gen Creta will be a strong hybrid powertrain. For markets that will receive the new Kona, the hybrid powertrain will be the same as the one available with the new global-spec Seltos. This hybrid powertrain comprises a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated GDI petrol engine.
Depending on the variant, one or two electric motors are used. Also part of this powertrain is a small high-voltage battery. Variants with dual motors will have eAWD capability. While 2WD variants have an output of 154 PS, the eAWD variant delivers a combined output of 178 PS. Other features expected include V2L (Vehicle To Load), regen braking and AI-powered voice commands.
For the Indian market, new-gen Creta will use a strong hybrid powertrain built around the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Existing engine options will continue to be available with the new Creta. Launch is expected later this year or in 2027.
