Kia Carens CNG, Clavis CNG (Factory Fitted) Launch Price Rs 12.12 L

Kia introduces three factory-fitted CNG variants with a 1.5-litre engine, six-speed manual gearbox and 60-litre cylinder

Kia India has launched factory-fitted CNG versions of Carens and Carens Clavis, priced from Rs 12,11,800 and Rs 12,38,800, respectively, ex-showroom. The launch follows their September 4 showcase alongside Sorento, when Kia first revealed the specifications of its new CNG powertrain.

Carens CNG is available in a single Premium (O) trim, while Clavis CNG comes in HTE and HTE (O) variants. The additions give buyers another fuel option across Kia’s three-row MPV lineup, with Clavis CNG positioned between comparable petrol and diesel versions on upfront pricing.

Carens And Clavis CNG Prices

Carens Premium (O) CNG costs Rs 12,11,800. Carens Clavis HTE CNG is priced at Rs 12,38,800, placing it Rs 27,000 above Carens CNG. Clavis HTE (O) CNG costs Rs 13,34,800, a premium of Rs 96,000 over HTE CNG. For comparison, Clavis HTE petrol is priced at Rs 11.39 lakh, while HTE (O) petrol starts at Rs 12.35 lakh. Both CNG trims command an approximately Rs 1 lakh premium over their entry petrol equivalents.

Clavis HTE (O) diesel starts at Rs 14.37 lakh, making the corresponding CNG trim approximately Rs 1.02 lakh cheaper. This gives buyers seeking lower fuel costs an alternative to diesel at a lower purchase price. All prices are ex-showroom.

96 PS, Six-Speed Manual And Dual-Fuel Capability

Both models use the Smartstream 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, producing 96 PS and 123 Nm in CNG mode, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. No automatic option has been announced for the CNG versions.

The factory-fitted system features a 60-litre CNG cylinder alongside the existing petrol fuel system, allowing drivers to switch between fuels. The cylinder sits in the boot, while the spare wheel remains mounted underneath the vehicle.

Suspension, Brakes And Third Row Modified

Kia has introduced CNG-specific engine calibration and modified suspension to accommodate the additional hardware. Both models also get 16-inch wheels and upgraded front disc brakes. Inside, a modified third-row seat-back frame improves the recline angle, according to Kia.

A dedicated fuel-change switch and 4.2-inch colour TFT MID with CNG distance-to-empty information help drivers manage the dual-fuel setup. The factory-integrated offering differs from the dealer-level CNG conversion previously available for Carens. It also adds a new choice for families with regular commuting needs and higher monthly usage.

Busy September For Kia India

The CNG launch adds to a busy September for Kia India, which began with the Sorento launch on September 4. The company has since introduced more accessible Carens Clavis diesel automatic and petrol DCT variants, extended lifetime unlimited-kilometre battery warranty coverage to eligible Clavis EV buyers, and opened pre-bookings for Clavis CNG and Carnival Hybrid. With CNG prices now announced and Carnival Hybrid launch is to follow. Kia is expanding its powertrain choices ahead of the festive season. Meanwhile, select models and variants could see a price increase in October 2026.
