New Simple Wave Launch Price Rs 1.09 Lakh – 243 Km Range, 70 L Boot, 90 Kmph Top Speed
by Sagar Patel · RushLaneSimple Energy has expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of Simple Wave, a new family-oriented electric scooter offered across multiple battery configurations. Prices start from Rs 1,09,999, while deliveries start 25th Sep.
Simple Wave will be available with battery capacities ranging from 2.2 kWh to 5 kWh. Depending on the configuration, claimed IDC range stretches from 110 km to as much as 243 km. The scooter also introduces a new 6.4 kW electric motor that Simple says is free from heavy rare-earth materials.
Four Battery Options – Up To 243 Km Range
Simple Wave range starts with a 2.2 kWh battery offering a claimed IDC range of 110 km. Moving higher, the 2.7 kWh version promises 132 km, while the 3.7 kWh configuration increases range to 171 km.
Sitting at the top is a substantially larger 5 kWh battery pack with a claimed IDC range of 243 km. This gives Simple Wave one of the widest battery and range spreads within a single electric scooter family.
Battery chemistry also varies depending on the configuration. Simple says the 2.2 kWh and 2.7 kWh versions use LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry, while the higher-spec 5 kWh version uses high-density NCA (Nickel Cobalt Aluminium) chemistry. Battery packs get IP67-rated protection against water and dust.
New 6.4 kW Rare-Earth-Free Motor
Another highlight is the 6.4 kW PMSM motor. Simple Energy claims it is the first company in India to introduce a heavy rare-earth-free motor of this type. Reducing dependence on heavy rare-earth materials is particularly relevant as EV manufacturers look at greater supply-chain security and localisation.
Performance varies depending on the Wave variant. Simple Wave S gets EcoX, Eco and Ride modes and can achieve a top speed of up to 75 km/h. Higher-spec Wave and Wave+ versions add a Sport mode, with top speed increasing to as much as 90 km/h. Advanced regenerative braking is also offered on these versions.
Simple Energy is also introducing two branded technologies with Wave. Hushdrive is aimed at making the drivetrain quieter, while GripSense has been developed as an additional safety feature.
70-Litre Storage Adds To Practicality
Practicality appears to be one of the major focus areas with Simple Wave. The electric scooter offers a claimed 70 litres of total storage space, which should make it suitable for everyday family use and carrying larger amounts of luggage.
Simple has also incorporated easy-access pill-shaped storage compartments into the side panels. These can be used for keeping smaller everyday items within easy reach without having to access the main storage area every time.
The scooter gets a front disc brake, while the images also confirm a conventional telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Simple Wave has a seat height of 775 mm and ground clearance of 175 mm, positioning it as an accessible everyday scooter.
Design follows a relatively clean family-scooter approach. It gets a flat floorboard, long single-piece seat and rear grab rail. Colour options include Pearl White, Polar Blue, Forest Green, Coral Red, Twilight Black and Dolphin Grey.
7-Inch TFT, Navigation And Connected Features
A 7-inch TFT instrument console is another key feature. It is powered by a 480 MHz Arm Cortex-M85 graphics microcontroller and supports turn-by-turn navigation, music controls and call controls. Simple has also demonstrated non-touch interaction, aimed at reducing rider distraction while using the interface.
The positioning of Wave appears different from Simple Energy’s earlier performance-oriented products. With multiple battery sizes, lower seat height, flat floorboard and a broad range of variants, Wave appears designed to target a wider set of everyday electric scooter buyers.
