Hyundai Bayon First Official Sketch Revealed – Exterior, Interior Design

Hyundai Motor India has released the first official design sketches of upcoming Hyundai Bayon, just days after confirming the name of its new SUV for India. The latest sketches provide the clearest official preview yet of Bayon’s exterior design while also giving us the first look at its cabin.

Hyundai says Bayon has been developed as a global product and will follow the brand’s evolving ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy. The upcoming SUV will focus on urban buyers while adopting a more upright and muscular appearance than the Bayon sold in some international markets.

Hyundai Bayon Gets Distinctive H-Edge Lighting

The exterior sketch reveals a wide and upright front fascia dominated by a distinctive lighting signature. Hyundai calls this the ‘H-Edge’ lighting treatment, with a horizontal light element extending across the front and prominent vertical elements towards either end.

A sculpted bonnet with pronounced creases adds visual muscle, while the front fenders appear significantly flared. Hyundai has also incorporated substantial lower-body elements to strengthen Bayon’s SUV character.

These design details correlate with what has already been seen on heavily camouflaged Bayon test prototypes in India. Spy shots have indicated a relatively upright profile, straight roofline, prominent wheel arches and roof rails.

Interestingly, one of those test vehicles carried ‘BRING IT ON’ graphics, with the ‘ON’ portion highlighted separately. We had earlier speculated that this could be Hyundai teasing the Bayon name. Hyundai subsequently confirmed the name on September 14 with its ‘Intelligence ON’ campaign.

First Look At Hyundai Bayon Interior

Along with the exterior, Hyundai has released the first official sketch of Bayon’s cabin. While the image is deliberately futuristic and Hyundai notes that it depicts a left-hand-drive vehicle, some important design elements can be seen.

A large display area dominates the dashboard, with the infotainment screen positioned prominently towards the centre. The dashboard itself appears to have a layered and horizontal layout, while the centre console rises upwards towards the dashboard.

Hyundai says the production model will focus heavily on technology, connectivity and intuitive controls. Previous test mules have already revealed dual integrated screens and Hyundai’s newer steering wheel design with four-dot detailing. Features such as a 360-degree camera and sunroof have also been spotted during testing.

Positioned Between Venue And Creta

Hyundai Bayon is expected to slot into the company’s Indian SUV portfolio between Venue and Creta. The model is expected to measure over four metres in length, allowing Hyundai to target buyers looking for something larger than a conventional sub-4m SUV without moving all the way up to Creta.

While Hyundai has not announced powertrain specifications yet, petrol engines are expected to form the core of the lineup. A CNG option could also be considered as Hyundai expands its factory-fitted CNG portfolio.
