Part of Honda’s mega portfolio expansion plans, the 0 Alpha is expected to be available in showrooms by early 2027

Honda recently confirmed that its much-awaited electric SUV, the 0 Alpha, will make its India debut on 2nd December 2026. The EV was first shown as a near-production prototype at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo in October 2025.  It will be Honda’s very first pure electric vehicle for India. Honda 0 Alpha will be built at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. Ahead of its debut, the 0 Alpha has been spied testing at an overseas location.

Solid road presence

The Honda 0 Alpha has a rather unconventional appearance, emphasising a planted stance while ensuring optimal space and comfort for all passengers. Before this, the 0 Alpha has been spied multiple times in India as well. The last such sighting was near Honda’s Tapukara factory. These spy shots suggest that the production car will stay very close to the concept.

While test mules are heavily camouflaged, the exterior profile has already been revealed with the concept version. At the front, the 0 Alpha wears a clean, closed-off face. A slim black panel links the rectangular LED headlights, while the illuminated Honda logo and the charging port sit neatly in the centre.

From the side, the SUV looks boxy and upright, with squared-off wheel arches, flush door handles and large 19-inch aero alloy wheels. A tall roofline and generous glass area point to a roomy cabin. At the rear, standout features include a thick C-pillar and a near-vertical tailgate. A U-shaped LED light bar wraps around the rear glass, and a chunky bumper with a skid plate finish rounds off the rugged look.

Key features

Spy shots have provided a good peek at the interior as well. The cabin is simple and modern, with a huge free-floating touchscreen sitting on top of the dashboard. Behind the flat-bottom steering wheel is a smaller, fully digital instrument display.

There are physical buttons below the screen that handle climate control and other functions. Expect features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected-car tech, a 360-degree camera and a premium sound system.

Performance, range

Honda has not revealed detailed specifications of the 0 Alpha electric SUV. However, it is expected to use a dedicated EV platform with a single motor driving the front wheels. It will have a compact e-Axle powertrain module. Speculative reports suggest that 0 Alpha could be offered with LFP battery pack options of 65 kWh and 75 kWh.

Certified range could be more than 500 km. 0 Alpha will have advanced DC fast charging, allowing 20% to 80% charge in around 15 minutes. The final power, range and charging figures will be shared closer to launch. 0 Alpha is an integral part of Honda’s “Thin, Light and Wise” electric strategy. It is designed as a gateway model, an affordable, spacious EV that will appeal to first-time electric buyers.

Honda has named India as one of its priority markets. This electric SUV will be made here for both local sales and exports to Japan and other Asian markets. Once launched, it will take on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV and Mahindra BE 6.
