Hero MotoCorp Aug 2026 Sales at 5.42 Lakh Units – YTD Growth at 17%

Hero MotoCorp reported total dispatches of 5,68,398 units in August 2026, registering 2.65% YoY growth over 5,53,727 units sold in August 2025. While overall wholesale growth was relatively modest, scooters and Vida electric two-wheelers emerged as key growth areas during the month. Compared to July 2026, when Hero dispatched 5,33,416 units, total volumes increased by 6.56%.

Scooter Sales Grow 43% YoY

Hero’s motorcycle business continued to account for the majority of its volumes, with 4,93,851 units dispatched in August. However, this was 1.53% lower than 5,01,523 units sold during August last year.

Scooters delivered a significantly stronger performance. Hero dispatched 74,547 scooters, up 42.80% from 52,204 units a year earlier. Scooter volumes also increased 14.95% MoM from 64,851 units in July. As a result, scooters accounted for 13.12% of Hero MotoCorp’s overall August volumes, compared to motorcycles at 86.88%.

Vida Dispatches Cross 25,000 Units

Vida EV recorded 25,558 units in dispatches during August 2026, while VAHAN retail registrations grew 38% YoY, according to Hero MotoCorp. Vida therefore accounted for a substantial portion of Hero’s scooter volumes during the month. Hero’s domestic ICE business separately recorded dispatches of 5,16,747 units, with VAHAN retail registrations growing 18% YoY.

The electric brand recently expanded its portfolio with the launch of Vida VX2 Go with a 3.1 kWh fixed battery, adding another option to its growing electric scooter range. Hero’s August numbers indicate that scooters, particularly electric models, are becoming increasingly relevant to a business that has traditionally been dominated by motorcycles.

Domestic Sales Rise, Exports Decline

Hero MotoCorp’s domestic dispatches reached 5,42,305 units, compared to 5,19,139 units in August 2025. This represents YoY growth of 4.46%. Domestic sales also improved substantially over July, increasing 8.16% from 5,01,403 units.

Exports moved in the opposite direction. Hero shipped 26,093 units during August, down 24.56% from 34,588 units a year ago. Exports also declined 18.49% compared to July’s 32,013 units. Hero nevertheless continued expanding its international product portfolio during the month, launching Xpulse 200 4V and Xpulse 200 4V Pro in Bangladesh.

FY27 Scooter Sales Up 71%

The broader FY27 numbers make Hero’s scooter growth even more apparent. Between April and August 2026, Hero MotoCorp dispatched 27,79,127 two-wheelers, up 17.24% from 23,70,552 units during the corresponding period last year.

Motorcycle sales increased 12.44% to 24,46,671 units. Scooter sales, however, surged 70.93% to 3,32,456 units, compared to 1,94,503 units during April-August 2025. Domestic sales increased 17.08% to 26,15,815 units, while exports grew 19.77% to 1,63,312 units.
