Mahindra’s SUV sales grew 14% YoY, while total auto volumes reached 1,14,874 units; trucks and buses posted strong growth, but domestic tractor sales declined

Mahindra & Mahindra reported total auto sales of 1,14,874 units in September 2026, registering 15% YoY growth, including exports. Domestic SUV sales stood at 64,092 units, up 14% over September 2025, supported by growth across its utility vehicle portfolio.

Mahindra SUV Sales Up 14% YoY, 8% MoM

Mahindra’s domestic SUV volumes increased from 56,233 units in September 2025 to 64,092 units last month. This translates to an additional 7,859 units and growth of 13.98%. Sequentially, sales rose 8.16% over the 59,257 units recorded in August 2026, adding 4,835 units.

For the July–September 2026 quarter, passenger vehicle sales reached 1,83,397 units, compared with 1,45,503 units in the corresponding period last year. This represents growth of 26.04%, or an additional 37,894 vehicles. The broader April–September period also remained positive. Domestic SUV sales stood at 3,58,142 units, up approximately 20% from 2,97,570 units a year earlier.

Electric Origin SUVs Cross 1 Lakh Billing

Commenting on the performance, Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra, highlighted the growth in SUVs and overall auto volumes, alongside the Electric Origin SUV milestone. Mahindra has now crossed cumulative billing of 1 lakh Electric Origin SUVs since launch. The milestone adds to Mahindra’s expanding presence in electric passenger vehicles.

Commercial Vehicles And Three-Wheelers Grow

Domestic light commercial vehicle sales totalled 30,420 units, growing approximately 14% YoY. Within this, the below-2-tonne category contributed 4,044 units, up 19%, while the 2–3.5-tonne category recorded 26,376 units, up 13%. Three-wheeler sales, including electric models, reached 16,343 units, registering 26% growth over September 2025’s 13,017 units. April–September three-wheeler volumes increased 53% to 82,058 units.

Auto exports declined 7% to 4,019 units from 4,320 units a year earlier. However, cumulative exports for April–September grew 48% to 30,031 units. Mahindra’s reported auto total of 1,14,874 units covers SUVs, light commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and exports. Trucks, buses and tractors are reported separately.

Trucks And Buses Sales Rise 53%

Mahindra’s Trucks & Buses business, comprising Mahindra Truck & Bus Division and SML Mahindra, recorded 2,912 units, including exports. This represents 53% growth over 1,904 units in September 2025.

Cargo vehicles contributed 2,043 units, up 84%, while passenger-carrying commercial vehicles accounted for 869 units, up 10%. Individually, Mahindra Truck & Bus Division sold 1,788 units, growing 87%, while SML Mahindra recorded 1,124 units, up 18%. Combined April–September volumes rose 22% to 17,805 units.

Domestic Tractor Sales Decline 23%

Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business recorded domestic tractor sales of 50,208 units, down 23% from 64,946 units in September 2025. The company attributed the decline primarily to the festive-season shift into October and a high year-earlier base that benefited from a GST rate cut.

Tractor exports increased 62% to 1,892 units, taking total tractor sales to 52,100 units, down 21% YoY. Despite September’s decline, April–September total tractor volumes remained higher at 2,74,068 units, registering 7% growth.
