Sales rose 7.51% YoY to 1.76 lakh units, with TVS Apache leading while Bajaj Pulsar recorded a strong monthly recovery

After taking a look at the 350cc to 450cc motorcycle sales, let us now take a look at the 150–200cc motorcycle segment. This motorcycle segment has recorded sales of 1,76,483 units in August 2026, up 7.51% from 1,64,158 units in August last year. This represented an increase of 12,325 units, supported by gains for TVS Apache, Honda Unicorn and Hero Xpulse 200, alongside the contribution from Yamaha XSR. Month-on-month growth was marginal at 0.35%, with volumes increasing by 618 units over July’s 1,75,865 units.

TVS Apache retained first position with 55,123 units, registering 22.39% growth over the 45,038 units sold in August 2025. It accounted for 31.23% of segment sales. However, volumes declined 7.21% from July’s 59,404 units. Bajaj Pulsar ranked second with 40,013 units in the 150–200cc category. Sales were down 6.93% against 42,993 units a year earlier, but increased sharply by 27.41% over July’s 31,405 units. The addition of 8,608 units made Pulsar the biggest contributor to the segment’s monthly volume gains.

Honda Unicorn completed the top three with 35,394 units, growing 20.91% YoY and 1.11% MoM. Its segment share stood at 20.06%. Together, Apache, Pulsar and Unicorn accounted for approximately 74% of the category’s August sales.

Yamaha FZ recorded 14,214 units, remaining almost flat YoY with a 0.76% decline. Compared with July, however, sales increased 43.40%, adding 4,302 units and strengthening its fourth-place position. Yamaha R15 followed with 7,691 units, up 2.15% from August 2025. Monthly volumes fell 26.79% from 10,505 units in July. MT-15 registered 7,537 units, declining 28.98% YoY and 27.16% MoM. Yamaha XSR contributed another 5,254 units.

Xpulse 200 Grows, KTM And SP160 Slip

Hero Xpulse 200 posted 4,980 units, delivering 45.44% YoY growth over 3,424 units. It also improved 7.12% over July, making it one of the models to record gains across both comparisons. KTM’s combined 160/200 category registered 2,654 units, down 21.43% YoY and 9.88% MoM. Honda SP160 followed with 2,028 units. Suzuki Gixxer nearly doubled its year-ago volume, rising 91.03% from 390 to 745 units.

Honda CB200X recorded 384 units, down 35.46% YoY but up 21.52% MoM. Hero Xtreme 160 sales fell to 310 units, translating to declines of 84.99% annually and 37.75% monthly. Honda Hornet 2.0 registered 156 units, down 82.69% YoY and 82.45% MoM. Bajaj Avenger recorded zero units in the category, compared with 1,233 units in August 2025 and zero in July 2026.

OEM Wise Performance

TVS led the 150–200cc motorcycle segment with 55,123 units in August 2026, up 22.39% YoY, accounting for 31.23% of total sales. Bajaj ranked second with 40,013 units, down 9.53% from 44,226 units a year earlier. Honda followed with 37,962 units, growing 14.44%, as Unicorn’s gains offset declines across its other models.

Yamaha registered 34,696 units, up 6.87%, with XSR’s contribution helping counter the drop in MT-15 sales. Hero slipped 3.63% to 5,290 units, with Xpulse 200 growth largely offsetting the sharp decline in Xtreme 160. KTM fell 21.43% to 2,654 units, while Suzuki recorded the highest percentage growth at 91.03%, albeit on a small base, reaching 745 units.
