by Sagar Patel · RushLaneCelebrating Royal Enfield’s 125th anniversary, the limited-edition Classic 650 features colour-shifting paint, commemorative detailing and a quilted brown leather seat.
Royal Enfield has announced the 125th Anniversary Edition Hypershift Classic 650, priced at Rs 4,25,589, ex-showroom, in India. Created as part of the brand’s anniversary celebrations, the special edition will be limited to 125 units per key region globally.
Registrations open at 2 PM IST on October 16, 2026, and continue until the sale day on October 28. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2026. The anniversary edition retains the familiar 650 Twin platform, with its main highlights centred on the paintwork, handcrafted detailing and commemorative touches.
Hypershift Paint Changes With The Light
The defining feature is Royal Enfield’s bespoke Hypershift finish, which shifts between shades of red, green and gold as light moves across the motorcycle. Its brass base draws inspiration from the earliest Royal Enfield motorcycles of 1901, combining deeper colours with gold tones.
The finish extends across the fuel tank, side panels, mudguards and headlamp nacelle, while black engine and exhaust components provide contrast. The Classic’s signature teardrop fuel tank, rounded bodywork and nacelle-mounted headlight retain its familiar silhouette.
Hand-painted pinstripes outline the tank’s central black section. A commemorative Royal Enfield cannon decal sits on top of the tank, while a gilded 125-year crest adorns the side panel. Together, these details distinguish the anniversary edition from the regular Classic 650.
Quilted Brown Leather Seat
It gets a vintage-style brown leather rider’s seat with quilted stitching. Its contrasting thread complements the gold detailing across the motorcycle. Equipment includes an LED headlight, LED tail lamp and a USB Type-C charging point. Turn indicators use conventional bulbs. Wire-spoke wheels, rounded mirrors and black-finished twin exhausts complement the design.
The Hypershift finish makes effective use of the Classic 650’s rounded surfaces, revealing different tones across the tank and mudguards as the light changes. Blacked-out mechanical components balance the elaborate paintwork, while the quilted brown seat and gold pinstripes reinforce its vintage character.
648cc Twin With Six-Speed Gearbox
Power comes from the same 647.95cc, fuel-injected, SOHC twin-cylinder engine producing 34.6 kW, approximately 47 PS, at 7,250 rpm. Peak torque stands at 52.3 Nm at 5,650 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a wet multi-plate clutch.
Braking hardware comprises a 320 mm front disc and a 300 mm rear disc, both with twin-piston floating calipers. Dual-channel ABS is included. The motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, fitted with 100/90 and 140/70 tyres respectively.
Seat height is listed at 800 mm, ground clearance at 154 mm and wheelbase at 1,475 mm. Fuel tank capacity stands at 14.7 litres, while the kerb weight is 243 kg with 90% fuel and oil.
Above-350cc Sales Decline Despite Overall Growth
The anniversary edition arrives as Royal Enfield’s above-350cc portfolio faces declining sales. In September 2026, this category recorded 12,463 units, down 26.04% from 16,850 units a year earlier and 6.55% from August. This contrasted with the company’s overall sales, including exports, which increased 7.75% YoY to 1,33,958 units.
The decline also extends beyond a single month. Above-350cc volumes fell 11.84% to 38,983 units during July–September 2026, while April–September sales declined 9.12% to 74,784 units. Royal Enfield’s total volumes grew 16.02% and 19.80% over these respective periods. Royal Enfield is getting ready to launch the 750cc Himalayan in coming weeks, which is likely to boost their above 350cc segment sales.
