Old Pulsar 220 Spy Shot – For reference only

Saying Indian enthusiasts are fond of Bajaj Pulsar 220, is an understatement. Even though the company discontinued it in favour of Pulsar F250, the demand for Pulsar 220 was such that Bajaj had to re-launch it. Pulsar 220 continues to be on sale to date, but is yet to receive a new gen treatment, similar to New Gen Classic Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 125.

At a recent media QnA in Pune city, Bajaj confirmed that Pulsar 220 will get a new gen upgrade. These upgrades are expected to be similar in ethos as the New Gen Classic Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 125. While the company did not mention an exact timeline, New Gen Classic Pulsar 220 is expected to launch in early 2027, after the launch of their upcoming ADV.

New Gen Pulsar 220 Incoming

Bajaj Auto’s Classic Pulsar lineup consists of four models across four displacement categories. Range starts with Pulsar 125, followed by Pulsar 150, Pulsar 180 and the iconic Pulsar 220. First launched in July 2007, Pulsar 220 has basically remained the same, except for a few minor tweaks here and there.

As confirmed by Bajaj, a major upgrade in terms of a new gen treatment is underway for Pulsar 220. When launched, it will be the most significant update to this motorcycle, ever. These updates are expected to be in line with what the recent Classic Pulsars got.

2026 Bajaj Pulsar 220F Update With LED Headlights

These could include a revised chassis with Diamond-type tubular frame where engine is a stressed member, an all-new upgraded 220cc engine (oil-cooled), electronic throttle body with ride by wire, mono-shock rear suspension, radial rear tyres, new switchgear and a TFT instrument cluster with Google Maps, document storage, music control and a lap timer.

We wish there is a 6-speed gearbox and USD front forks this time around with Pulsar 220, which currently gets a 5-speed gearbox. What could retain from current version or get slight revisions only, are clip-on handlebars, semi-fairing with that iconic and immediately recognisable fascia with all-LED lighting.

No Upgrades For Pulsar 180, Pulsar F250

Classic Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 125 got the ‘New Gen’ treatment and Classic Pulsar 220 is set to receive this upgrade. What about the Classic Pulsar 180 that is currently on sale? The company has clearly mentioned that an upgrade to Pulsar 180 is not on the cards. It could be owing to lack of demand for this whole 180cc displacement segment.

Pulsar F250, on the other hand, is not getting the same upgrade package as the just launched Pulsar N250 SS. Bajaj has confirmed this and Pulsar F250 seems to have slipped through the cracks for lack of demand.
