Citroen Basalt X New Variants

Citroen India has expanded Aircross X and Basalt X lineups with new variants, while also introducing an updated eC3 X Extended ahead of the festive season. The changes create new combinations of engines and equipment levels for the ICE models, while eC3 X gets a relatively minor improvement in certified range.

New Basalt X variants start at Rs 9.99 lakh, while Aircross X additions start from Rs 10.69 lakh. Citroen has also announced eC3 X Extended with a BaaS price starting at Rs 6.99 lakh plus battery EMI of Rs 2.26 per km. All the new additions are available across Citroen’s network from today.

Citroen Aircross X New Variants

Turbo Engine Now Available With YOU Variants

An important change for Aircross X and Basalt X is the availability of the turbocharged petrol engine lower down their respective variant hierarchies. New Basalt X YOU Turbo is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh. For perspective, existing Basalt X YOU variants are priced between Rs 8.55 lakh and Rs 8.75 lakh. Until now, Plus and Max trims occupied the higher end of Basalt X range.

Similarly, Citroen has introduced Aircross X YOU Turbo Comfort Edition at Rs 10.69 lakh. Existing Aircross X YOU variants are priced between Rs 8.89 lakh and Rs 9.09 lakh. The new variants allow buyers interested primarily in the stronger turbocharged powertrain to access it without necessarily moving further up the equipment hierarchy.

MAX Features With Naturally Aspirated Engine

Citroen has also taken the reverse approach at the upper end of both lineups. New MAX NA variants combine the higher-spec Max trim with the naturally aspirated engine. Basalt X MAX NA costs Rs 11.34 lakh, compared to the existing Basalt X Max range that starts at Rs 12.62 lakh. This creates a lower entry point into the Max equipment level.

Aircross X follows the same strategy. Aircross X MAX NA is priced at Rs 11.62 lakh, whereas the existing Aircross X Max range starts at Rs 12.97 lakh. Citroen says all NA variants are available with petrol and CNG powertrains. However, separate prices for the new CNG versions have not been provided in the announcement.

Citroen eC3 X Extended

eC3 X Extended Launched

Alongside the new ICE variants, Citroen has introduced eC3 X Extended with a certified 330 km MIDC-I/II range. Despite the Extended name, the improvement over the existing model is marginal. Current eC3 X already has a certified range of 325 km, meaning the latest version adds just 5 km on the certification cycle.

Citroen says the improvement comes from changes aimed at increasing efficiency and using energy more effectively. No increase in battery capacity has been announced. For reference, eC3 X uses a 29.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. It has 143 Nm of torque, a claimed top speed of 107 km/h and can accelerate from 0-60 km/h in a claimed 6.8 seconds. DC fast charging from 10-80% takes around 57 minutes.

Citroen has announced eC3 X Extended at a BaaS starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh plus Rs 2.26/km as battery EMI. Existing eC3 X is currently priced from Rs 9.45 lakh to Rs 10.79 lakh. Live costs Rs 9.45 lakh, Live (O) Rs 9.73 lakh and Shine Rs 10.79 lakh.

Car Retail Sales Aug 2026 – YoY

Overall, the new Aircross X and Basalt X variants are the more substantial part of this announcement, as they create engine-equipment combinations that were previously unavailable. eC3 X Extended is a much smaller update, with certified range increasing by only 5 km. These updates are aimed at boosting sales this festive season.
