When Indian Government forcefully imposed the 350cc displacement barrier for lower taxes as part of GST 2.0 revisions, some OEMs stuck to their big displacement strategies. However, math did not math and Bajaj was the first one to announce downsizing across Bajaj’s own portfolio along with Triumph and KTM portfolios.

Hero and Harley duo, on the other hand, stuck to their big displacement 440cc engine till now. Things change from here onwards as Hero Harley X440 has now undergone engine downsizing treatment and the company is even slapping the correct displacement number in the name as X440T just became X350T.

Hero Harley X350T Spied

In China, Harley-Davidson has partnered with QJ Motor to offer X350 and it should not be confused with the soon-to-launch X350T in India from Hero and Harley duo. The Chinese offering is a liquid-cooled parallel-twin motorcycle, in comparison and costs CNY 33,388 (around Rs 4.77 lakh).

Harley Davidson X350T for India has been spied undisguised ahead of launch. We can see X350T right on the fuel tank, beside Harley-Davidson lettering. Apart from the new name, there is a new Orange colour theme along with new graphics with the soon-to-launch Harley X350T.

Other than these visual indicators, Harley X350T looks identical to X440T, which is not a bad thing. We can see the same mainframe and subframe along with the same revised aesthetics introduced with T variant last year. Improved production quality seen with X440T last year, is also reflected in X350T.

In terms of equipment, we still get disc brakes at both ends with Dual Channel ABS, a portrait style TFT instrument cluster, single-piece seat with a step for pillion and ribbed design for rider, USD front forks, twin shock rear suspension setup, all-LED lighting with circular headlights, flyscreen and wide handlebar and other attributes.

Lower Pricing Expected

The only change seems to be in the engine department, which has undergone a downsizing exercise, similar to Bajaj Auto and its partners. X440T had a 440cc oil-cooled engine with 27 bhp and 38 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. New Harley X350T engine could generate around 350cc and make around 25 bhp and 35 Nm (figures speculative). What’s confirmed, though, is the addition of an electric throttle body with X350T.

Currently, Harley X440T costs Rs 2.86 lakh (Ex-sh) and is offered in four mono-tone colours – Vivid Black, Pearl White, Pearl Blue and Pearl Red. With X350T, colours are Black, Red, Orange and Military Green. Launch is expected in the coming weeks.
