Maruti WagonR Facelift Spied – New Headlamps, Features

Maruti is readying the WagonR facelift, expected to be launched later this year. Test mules have been earlier. In the latest spy shots, the revised headlamps of WagonR facelift can be seen. Other features like the overall boxy, tallboy profile have been retained.
WagonR facelift – Refreshed exterior
Maruti WagonR facelift gets rectangular headlamps, slightly different from the larger units seen with the current model. Front fascia appears upright with the same basic design approach for the grille and bumper. However, there can be new detailing under the heavy camouflage. Side profile remains largely the same as the current model.
Key features include flap door handles, blacked out ORVMs with integrated turn signals and tall windows. At the rear, WagonR facelift has the same vertically stacked tail lamps. However, there can be some minor touchups via new styling elements. Reflectors at the rear are now vertically stacked, as compared to horizontally stacked units used with the current model. Shape of the boot lid and positioning of the number plate remain unchanged.
New features
Inside, Maruti WagonR facelift is expected to retain much of the same setup as before. However, there can be some upgrades such as a larger touchscreen infotainment system. The current model utilizes a 7-inch touchscreen (Smartplay Studio with Smartphone Navigation). This is offered only with the 1.2 litre ZXi+/ZXi+ AGS variants. WagonR facelift could also receive new upholstery and some minor touch-ups to the dashboard and accents.
Features that will be carried forward include idle start stop (ISS), remote keyless entry, power windows and AC + heater. WagonR has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB/AUX, and steering mounted audio and voice control. A range of safety features are offered as standard across all variants. These include 6 airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), speed alert system, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and central locking.
New, more efficient engine
Maruti WagonR is currently available with 1.0-litre K10C petrol and 1.2 litre K12N petrol engine options. CNG option is available with only the 1.0 litre engine. The 1.0 litre petrol unit generates 68.5 PS and 91.1 Nm of torque. CNG variants deliver 56.6 PS and 82.1 Nm of torque. The 1.2 litre engine generates 90.9 PS and 113.7 Nm of torque. Both engines have manual and AGS transmission options.
It is expected that the K12N 1.2-litre four cylinder engine will be replaced with the Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine. This engine has already been introduced with the new Swift, Dzire and Baleno. It is not certain if the 1.0-litre engine will be retained with the facelifted WagonR. Irrespective, CNG option will continue to be available with the new WagonR.
Another key update for WagonR facelift could be an underbody CNG tank. This will increase boot space, ensuring more convenience for fleet operators as well as private users. With the updates, Maruti WagonR facelift could be offered at slightly higher prices. The current model is available at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh.
