New Hero ADV Bike Spied – Impulse 160?

Hero MotoCorp has been working on expanding its premium motorcycle and scooter lineup for some time now. The goal is to have an extensive lineup and shed the image of being just a Splendor maker. In that regard, we will get a Hero Xpulse 421 at the halo end, but a more affordable ADV off-roader at the lower displacement end.

This is where Hero offered Impulse ADV back in the day and the 2W juggernaut seems to be reviving the Impulse name with a smaller and more affordable ADV for the masses. It has been spied from what looks like the factory floor and was posted by Reddit user xtremeAnkit.

From what we can see from this one blurry picture of this motorcycle, it looks like a smaller off-road motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp. In May 2025, we first posted spy shots of road testing of a new Xpulse motorcycle and then just last month, Hero filed design patents of a new off-road motorcycle which could be positioned below Xpulse 200.

The unit seen in latest spy shots looks like it is production-ready, without any camouflage. The colour looks like it is Orange, or it may be Red, depending on colour science of the camera that took this picture. We can see an up-swept exhaust to aid in water wading, on / off road tyres, chunky rear luggage rack and more.

New Hero ADV Patent Leaks

Comparing this particular test mule spy shot to recent design patent leaks, there seems to be a match and it sort of matches last year’s road testing spy shots too. It has a tall fuel tank along with tank shrouds. Design patents have confirmed a front beak along with a single-piece scooped-out seat and large side body panels.

Patents also showed the presence of LED projector headlights along with attributes like fork gaiters on front suspension, Front wheel looks like it is 21-inches and rear might be 18-inches, like it is in current Xpulse bikes. We can see disc brakes at both ends, but these are not fancier petal type rotors.

What to expect?

Patents showed a saree guard on the left, which means India-spec version, but it also looked like it had a carburetor, which may be specific to few African markets. In terms of features, there could be dual-channel ABS, fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, traction control and many more.

In terms of powertrains, the design patents suggest that it might be a similar unit as Xpulse 200, but there is a good probability of it being something smaller, probably a 160cc. At least for India. This could be similar to Xtreme 160R 4V engine, which is oil-cooled as well. Hero may revive the Impulse name or expand the Xpulse nameplate to bring in more buyers.
