Hyundai Venue Gets Remote Engine Immobiliser Via OTA Update

Hyundai Motor India has introduced a new connected security feature for Venue and Venue N Line that allows owners to remotely immobilise their parked vehicle using a smartphone. Called Hyundai Bluelink Remote Immobiliser, the feature is being rolled out through a Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) software update.

Importantly, eligible existing Venue owners do not need to visit a Hyundai workshop to get the feature. Hyundai says the technology is designed to improve protection against vehicle theft, including situations where thieves may have gained access through methods such as key cloning.

Hyundai Venue Remote Immobiliser – How It Works

Remote Immobiliser can be activated directly through the Hyundai Bluelink smartphone app. When enabled while the vehicle is parked, certain vehicle functions are disabled and Venue cannot be restarted without authorisation.

There is also a reactive use case if the owner suspects that the vehicle has already been stolen. The immobiliser can be activated through the Bluelink app even if it wasn’t switched on while parking.

However, Hyundai has incorporated an important safety safeguard. Remote Immobiliser will not stop or switch off a vehicle while it is moving. Instead, once the vehicle is subsequently switched off, it cannot be restarted.

This could prove useful in theft scenarios, as the owner does not need to contact the Bluelink Centre before activating the immobiliser. Hyundai also offers live vehicle location tracking through Bluelink, which can help owners and law enforcement agencies locate the vehicle. Operation of these functions is dependent on factors such as vehicle power supply, wiring and network connectivity.

Existing Venue Owners Get It Via OTA

The feature is currently being introduced on ccNC-equipped Venue HX10 and Venue N Line N10 variants. Hyundai says all eligible units of these variants sold since November 2025 will receive Remote Immobiliser through an OTA update without requiring a workshop visit.

From September 2026 onwards, Remote Immobiliser is being offered as standard on ccNC-equipped Venue HX10 and Venue N Line N10 variants. Hyundai plans to expand the feature in phases to select existing Bluelink-equipped models as well as upcoming connected vehicles. Remote Immobiliser is also currently available with Hyundai Ioniq 5.

More Than An Infotainment OTA Update

Another notable aspect of this rollout is Hyundai’s use of Controller Over-the-Air technology. Unlike an update limited primarily to the infotainment system, C-OTA allows software within various vehicle controllers to be updated remotely. Hyundai says compatible Venue variants can receive C-OTA updates across up to 19 vehicle controllers.

This gives the company the ability to introduce new functions and improvements to existing vehicles without necessarily requiring customers to visit a service centre. The technology forms part of Hyundai’s move towards a Software-Defined Vehicle architecture, where more vehicle functions can be improved or added through software during the ownership period.

Bluelink Connected Features Expand

Hyundai says Bluelink is now active across more than eight lakh connected vehicles in India and is offered on 11 of its 15 models. Depending on the model, the connected platform offers more than 70 functions. These include SOS and emergency assistance, auto-crash notification, remote vehicle status, Hyundai Pay, Digital Key and vehicle location-related functions.

With Remote Immobiliser, Hyundai is now extending Bluelink beyond convenience and connectivity into a more active vehicle-security role. For Venue owners, the key advantage is the ability to remotely prevent an unauthorised restart directly from their smartphone, while existing eligible vehicles can gain the functionality purely through a software update.
