Hyundai Custo Facelift Leaks With Staria-Like Front Fascia

Hyundai might not have any minivan or MPVs in India, but the South Korean automotive juggernaut has an extensive lineup globally. The company has the Custo minivan in China, which made its first appearance in 2021. It is also sold as Custin in markets like Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Custo was named after Jacques Cousteau, famous French explorer and inventor of SCUBA equipment. Now, a new facelifted version of Hyundai Custo has emerged from China’s MIIT documents and they show the exterior changes done to this minivan. These changes could make their way to other markets like Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Hyundai Custo Facelift Leaks

From the Chinese MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), homologation documents of Hyundai Custo facelift have leaked. The leaked images show the new Custo facelift with an all new fascia which seems to be inspired by Staria MPV. Hyundai Custo will be made by Beijing Hyundai, which is a joint venture between China’s BAIC Motor and Hyundai.

Dimensionally, Hyundai Custo facelift measures 4,959 mm in length, up to 1,856 mm in width and 1,733 mm in height. Wheelbase is 3,055 mm and it has sliding doors that open a big aperture into rear seats. This minivan rides on 18-inch alloy wheels which get a new design with this facelift.

Speaking of facelift, the entire face has been revised with this update, giving Hyundai Custo an all new identity. The fascia looks like it was heavily inspired by the Staria. The grille now gets a black finish, which is a stark contrast on the white body colour seen in these leaked images. Almost the entire front is engulfed by these contrasting elements.

New Custo facelift gets vertically arranged LED headlights with DRLs flanking these headlights from the outside. There could be connected LED bar on the top with either ends turning into turn indicators. The cascading grill in the middle, accommodates a Hyundai logo. Lower down, we can see bull bar like elements and then a faux skid plate.

What else is new?

Entire side profile has been retained exactly as it was, except for the new design for alloy wheels and triangular elements on both front fenders. Depending on the variant, Hyundai will offer a single-pane sunroof at the front and a panoramic sunroof for the rear. Rear design is carried forward and rear tail lights look the same, while rear bumper get new chrome elements.

Interiors are not revealed by these leaked pictures. At the rear, we can see 270T and 380T badges, which are related to powertrains. For Beijing Hyundai, 270T means the 1.5L Turbo Petrol engine with 270 Nm torque and 170 bhp, mated to either a 7-speed or 8-speed automatic gearbox. 380T means a 2.0L Turbo Petrol 353 Nm and 230 bhp, mated to an 8-speed automatic.
