Mahindra Vision S Connected LED Tail Light Spied For First Time

Night-time sighting reveals a rear lighting element that appears to have been concealed beneath camouflage in earlier Vision S spy shots

Mahindra’s upcoming Vision S-based SUV has been spied again, with the latest night-time images offering a clearer look at its rear lighting signature. Horizontal red LED strips extend inwards from the outer lamp assemblies, creating a connected-style appearance on either side of the tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

The new images show slim horizontal lighting elements running towards the centre of the tailgate, meeting vertical outer lamp sections. This gives the SUV a broader rear lighting signature than was apparent in the earlier daytime photographs.

The spare wheel obscures the middle section, so the images do not confirm whether an uninterrupted illuminated strip connects the two sides. For now, the visible arrangement is best described as a connected-style LED signature.

Looking back at the earlier close-up, a narrow horizontal outline can be seen beneath the camouflage above the rectangular outer lamp, extending towards the spare wheel. Its position appears consistent with the illuminated strip in the latest photographs, although the camouflage makes its exact shape difficult to distinguish.

Earlier Pillar-Mounted Lamps Remain Part Of The Story

Our previous report highlighted tall lamps integrated into the rear pillars alongside the windscreen. These featured stacked horizontal red elements and drew a visual comparison with Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N.

The latest night-time images bring the lower horizontal lighting into focus. They do not establish that the higher pillar-mounted units have been removed, since those sections could be unlit or concealed in the darkness.

Taken together, the sightings suggest the rear design may incorporate both higher vertical elements and a lower horizontal lighting signature. Their exact functions—including which sections serve as position lamps, brake lights or indicators—remain unclear.

Familiar Boxy Shape And Tailgate-Mounted Spare

The prototype retains its upright rear windscreen, pronounced wheel arches and centrally mounted spare wheel. The tailgate-handle position also appears consistent with earlier test vehicles, reinforcing the similarities between the sightings.

Previous photographs showed a spare-tyre marking that appeared to read 235/70 R16. This suggests a substantial tyre sidewall, although final wheel and tyre specifications could vary across the production lineup.

Sub-4m Scorpio Speculation Continues

The Vision S-based SUV is expected to target the sub-four-metre segment and use Mahindra’s NU_IQ architecture. Its rugged proportions and earlier Scorpio-like pillar lamps have prompted speculation about a smaller addition to the Scorpio family, potentially carrying the Scorpio Sport name. Mahindra has not confirmed this branding.

Earlier interior sightings revealed two horizontal displays, vertical AC vents and an electronic parking brake. Powertrain choices and final equipment remain unannounced, with a launch expected in 2027. Mahindra has confirmed that the platform supports both ICE as well as EV architecture.
