The new Sprint 440 gets a 440cc single-cylinder engine, low seat height and modern equipment, with US deliveries beginning in spring 2027

Harley-Davidson has officially unveiled the Sprint 440, expanding its small-capacity motorcycle portfolio with a cruiser developed in partnership with Hero MotoCorp. Following the undisguised sightings we reported a few days ago, the announcement now reveals its specifications, equipment and international rollout plans.

The motorcycle will make its public debut at EICMA 2026 in Milan. Harley-Davidson has confirmed a spring 2027 introduction in the United States, with final assembly at its York, Pennsylvania facility. Availability in other markets will follow different schedules. Harley Davidson is also working on X350T for India.

Traditional Cruiser Styling

The Sprint 440 brings a more traditional cruiser appearance than the X440 roadster. Its design combines a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, circular headlamp, scooped rider seat and raised, pulled-back handlebar. A stepped pillion section, shortened rear mudguard and low-mounted exhaust complete the profile.

Black mechanical components contrast with machined engine fins, alloy-wheel detailing and a metallic exhaust heat shield. International colour choices include Dark Billiard Grey, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder, with distinctive tank graphics adding colour to the otherwise dark finishes.

The Sprint name also reconnects Harley-Davidson with its lightweight motorcycle history, having first appeared in 1961. The latest model follows a similar brief of bringing newer riders into the brand.

440cc Engine Produces 38 Nm

Power comes from a 440cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 26.7 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist-and-slipper clutch.

The emphasis is on accessible low-speed torque rather than outright performance, matching the motorcycle’s relaxed riding position. Claimed combined fuel efficiency is approximately 34 kmpl, although real-world results will depend on riding conditions.

New Harley Davidson Sprint 440 Specs

Its 9-litre fuel tank is smaller than the India-spec X440’s 13.5-litre unit. The Sprint therefore takes a different approach to packaging, prioritising a compact cruiser silhouette.

Low Seat, 19-Inch Front Wheel

One of the Sprint’s main attractions is its 671 mm laden seat height. The narrow seat and tank area are intended to make reaching the ground easier, while optional Reach and Tallboy seats offer further ergonomic adjustment.

Suspension comprises 43 mm upside-down front forks with 130 mm travel and twin rear shock absorbers with seven-step preload adjustment. Ground clearance is 147 mm, a figure prospective Indian buyers will need to consider for local road conditions.

The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast aluminium wheels, fitted with 100/90 front and 150/60 rear tyres. Braking hardware includes a 320 mm front disc and 240 mm rear disc, supported by ABS.

TFT Display And Touring Accessories

Equipment includes a circular 3.5-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, full-LED lighting and a USB-C charging port positioned above the headlamp. Harley-Davidson will also offer accessories including a detachable windscreen, saddlebags, passenger backrest, engine guard and alternative handlebars. These allow buyers to adapt the motorcycle for commuting, relaxed weekend rides or longer journeys.

India Launch Details Awaited

The Sprint 440 has been announced at a starting price of £4,995 in the UK (Rs 6.34 lakh), while US pricing is around $6,000 (Rs 5.68 lakh). Despite Hero MotoCorp’s development involvement and the earlier dealership sightings, an India launch date and local pricing remain unannounced. India price is expected to be in the Rs 3.5 lakh range.
