BYD Denza D9 Luxury MPV and Z9 GT 1156 bhp Fastback India Launch Soon

BYD (Build Your Dreams) has been the world’s largest electric car manufacturer in volume and the company is known for its vast lineup across multiple sub brands. One such sub brand is Denza, which is set to debut in India soon. When launched, Denza brand will be positioned above BYD’s current mainstream lineup.

More interesting than Denza brand debut in India is the lineup Denza is debuting with. While we covered Denza D9 luxury MPV launch in a previous post, second Denza product for Indian market will be a 1,156 bhp luxury 4-Door Fastback called Z9 GT, which has a top speed of 270 km/h.

BYD Denza D9 Luxury MPV

Denza D9 is a luxury electric MPV which is set to launch in India soon. Launch timeline is speculated to be around Diwali and it will take on other luxury MPVs like MG M9, Mercedes-Benz V-Class, Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM. Globally, Denza D9 is available with both PHEV and EV options and India is likely to only get the latter.

In terms of dimensions, Denza D9 measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, 1,920 mm in height and has a 3,110 mm long wheelbase. Kerb weight of this luxury electric MPV / minivan is roughly between 2.3 and 2.9 tonnes. Powering the Denza D9 EV is a 103.3 kWh Blade battery pack with 520 km WLTP and 620 km NEDC range figures.

Denza has a typical two-box minivan silhouette with powered sliding doors. Front fascia has a large and imposing grille with vertical slats, while rear is flat, with interesting LED tail light signature. Inside, we can see individual lounge seats for second row with calf rests, winged headrests and screens to control individual settings. Cooled box, digital IRVM, powered, ventilated and massaging rear seats are present too.

BYD Denza Z9 GT

It was March 2025 when BYD patented the designs of Denza Z9 GT in India and it was speculated to launch since. Denza Z9 GT is a 4-door luxury shooting brake or a fastback. It has a distinctive design and is unlike any other cars launched in India, ever. It rides on 21-inch alloy wheels and features frameless windows, coupe fastback silhouette, hatchback tailgate, interesting LED signatures at the front and rear along with a massive diffuser at the rear.

Inside, it has Devialet audio system and there are screens to show the view from the digital rear-view cameras. It has active rear wheel steering which can crab walk and it has compass 360-degree turn feature too. It has sophisticated ADAS suite and self parking features along with sought-after Disus-A dual chamber air suspension for a cushy ride.

Depending on markets, Denza Z9 GT is available as a PHEV or as a BEV. India-spec version is expected to be fully electric. The 122.5 kWh battery pack will send juice to a triple motor setup with 1,156 bhp peak power and 1,210 Nm peak torque. 0-100 km/h sprint is rated at 2.7 seconds and top speed can go till 270 km/h.
