Hyundai Creta CY2025 Sales Milestone

In the automotive industry, 2 lakh units is a big deal as some vehicles take years and some even a decade to achieve this sales milestone. For a sales phenomenon like Hyundai Creta, 2 lakh units is just another calendar year achievement. Like a side quest after dominating the market for close to a decade.

In the calendar year 2025, Hyundai has already sold over 2 lakh units of Creta SUV. It has to be noted that this is Creta’s highest-ever annual sales performance in a single calendar year. Thus making Creta India’s best-selling SUV in the past five years, cumulatively.

The 4.2m to 4.4m SUV segment is India’s most contested segment with 13 contenders already on sale. These include Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Tata Sierra, Curvv, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Citroen Aircross and Basalt. Two more are launching early in 2026 – Renault Duster, Nissan Tekton.

Despite the cut-throat competition, one SUV has ruled this segment for around a decade. We’re talking about the Hyundai Creta, which has been shattering sales records right, left and centre. This Compact SUV has sold 2 lakh units in 2025 calendar year, which is the highest-ever annual sales Creta has had in a single calendar year.

Even though Creta didn’t create this segment, it has been a defining vehicle of this category of SUVs. 2025 has been quite special for Creta as it saw achieved a 2 lakh units sales milestone in a calendar year and the year 2025 marks 10 years of Creta’s existence, registering a CAGR of over 9% between 2016 and 2025.

With a market share of around 34% in the 4.2m to 4.4m SUV space, Creta has become a household name in India. Earlier this year, Hyundai launched Creta Electric, infusing modern and futuristic propulsion systems into the Creta brand. The trio of 1.5L 4-cylinder engines (NA Petrol, Turbo Petrol, Turbo Diesel) are also extremely popular.
