Hyundai Bayon Gets Dash Boost Mode, Paddle Shifters – New Details
by Sagar Patel · RushLaneHyundai has detailed the Bayon’s IVT features, including Dash Boost Mode, Sporty Drive Tech and three selectable driving modes.
Hyundai Motor India has released more details about the upcoming Bayon, this time focusing on its powertrain and driving controls. While the 1.5-litre petrol engine and transmission options were already confirmed, the latest announcement introduces Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech for the IVT version. Hyundai has also confirmed paddle shifters and Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes.
Dash Boost Mode For Quicker Response
Hyundai says Dash Boost Mode is designed to improve responsiveness when quicker acceleration is required, particularly during overtaking. The feature will be offered with the Intelligent Variable Transmission, or IVT.
Although Hyundai describes its operation as providing an “instant power boost”, the company has not explained how the system works. The confirmed engine specifications remain 115 PS and 143.8 Nm.
You also get Sporty Drive Tech, which Hyundai says is intended to provide a sportier and more connected acceleration experience. Further technical details, including how it changes transmission behaviour, have not been disclosed.
Paddle Shifters And Three Drive Modes
Bayon’s IVT driving package includes paddle shifters, allowing drivers to have an engaging experience on the road. Paddle shifters will complement the selectable driving modes, giving users more control over how the vehicle responds.
Three modes have been confirmed: Eco, Normal and Sport. Eco is intended to prioritise fuel efficiency, while Normal provides a balance between performance and efficiency for everyday driving. Sport offers a more responsive driving character. A steering-mounted Drive Mode button will allow users to switch between these settings.
Familiar 1.5-Litre Petrol Engine
Power comes from Hyundai’s four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine, producing 115 PS and 143.8 Nm. Buyers will have a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or an IVT automatic. Hyundai says it has sold more than six lakh vehicles equipped with this engine in India since 2020. This is the same engine which is also offered with Creta currently.
For Bayon, the focus is on combining this familiar powertrain with additional transmission features and driving controls. Fuel-efficiency figures and acceleration times have not been announced.
Commenting on the update, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, said the company’s approach to performance centres on how naturally and confidently a vehicle responds in everyday driving. He highlighted the combination of the petrol engine, IVT technologies and selectable modes as central to that approach.
Feature Packed, Tech Loaded, Engineered for 5 Star Safety
Interior features revealed so far include twin curved 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat and Bose audio. Built on the Global K Enhanced Platform, Bayon is described by Hyundai as engineered for five-star Indian safety standards.
Hyundai has also announced more than 35 standard safety features across variants, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist Control and tyre pressure monitoring. The wider lineup will offer Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 functions. Launch on 26th October. Bookings are now open.
