Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO at a starting price of Rs 3.80 crore, ex-showroom. Available in limited numbers, the new variant combines the G 63’s V8 performance with additional equipment aimed at improving its capabilities beyond paved roads. The exact allocation for India has not been disclosed.
Key highlights include AMG Active Ride Control suspension, AMG Traction PRO and AMG Active Balance Control. A Professional roof luggage rack and variant-specific 20-inch alloy wheels further distinguish the Offroad PRO.
AMG G 63 Offroad PRO – Suspension And Traction Upgrades
AMG Active Ride Control brings active roll stabilisation, adjusting the suspension’s behaviour to suit different driving programmes. Mercedes-Benz says the system can provide greater axle articulation off-road, helping the wheels maintain ground contact and traction, while improving comfort over bumps.
AMG Active Balance Control allows drivers to adjust roll stiffness across three levels in the off-road driving programmes. Settings range from low to high, enabling the suspension to be tailored to the terrain.
AMG Traction PRO operates in the Rock and Sand programmes, controlling braking torque individually at each wheel. The system offers seven selectable locking settings and is designed to help the vehicle regain traction in difficult conditions, including deep sand.
Roof Rack And Dedicated 20-Inch Wheels
The Offroad PRO comes with a Professional roof luggage rack for carrying larger luggage and expedition accessories. Continuous aluminium panels form the load surface, while a removable rear ladder provides access. It also gets unique 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black, with a diamond-turned rim flange. These are paired with 275/50 R20 tyres.
The familiar G-Class silhouette remains, complemented by AMG-specific styling elements such as flared wheel arches and a distinctive front bumper. The roof rack and wheel package give this variant a more rugged appearance.
4.0L V8 With 585 Hp
Power comes from a handcrafted 3,982 cc twin-turbo V8 supported by 48V mild-hybrid technology. The engine produces 585 hp and 850 Nm, with power delivered through AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz quotes a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. The Offroad PRO’s main distinction is its specialised chassis and off-road equipment rather than a higher engine output.
Luxury Cabin And Updated Technology
Inside, the G 63 Offroad PRO features Nappa leather upholstery and customisable ambient lighting. The MBUX NTG7 infotainment system includes augmented-reality navigation, while the dashboard’s off-road cockpit brings relevant functions and information together for easier access. There is also a technology package with a more comprehensive range of driver assistance functions, although individual ADAS features have not been detailed.
Commenting on the introduction, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said the Offroad PRO builds on the G-Class legacy through enhanced off-road technology, performance and distinctive design. He added that the limited-volume offering supports the company’s focus on the top-end luxury segment.
