Hero Vida Electric Trike 3W Design Patent Leaks
by Satya Singh · RushLaneNEX 2 is part of Vida Novus range, a new platform focused on providing advanced mobility solutions for urban environments
Hero MotoCorp had unveiled its Vida Novus range at EICMA 2025. It included three mobility solutions – NEX 1, NEX 2 and NEX 3. In addition to their focus on sustainability, these electric mobility solutions are powered by intelligent and connected systems. In the latest development, Hero has patented the NEX 2 electric trike.
Hero Vida NEX 2 – Design and features
As seen in the design patent images, the overall profile is largely the same as the model unveiled at EICMA 2025. The electric trike has a broader front section to accommodate the two wheels at the front. At the rear, NEX 2 has a narrower profile. Exact dimensions of NEX 2 have not been revealed. However, considering that NEX 2 is designed for urban environments, one can expect it to be as compact as possible.
Another focus area will be manoeuvrability, which is essential for urban environments. Like other performance-oriented trike vehicles available globally, Hero Vida NEX 2 utilizes a complex front suspension setup. This allows the user to lean into corners, quite similar to a standard motorcycle or scooter.
NEX 2 is positioned as a compact, self-balancing trike. This is one of the key features that differentiate it from a standard scooter or motorcycle. With NEX 2, riders do not have to worry about balancing the bike during riding or when coming to a stop. NEX 2 can stabilize itself automatically at low speeds or during stops like at a traffic signal.
Hero has ensured a distinctive, curvy design for NEX 2. Key features include a large windscreen, sharp LED lights and a chunky front apron. NEX 2 uses large alloy wheels that have a V-shaped spoke design. A slightly committed riding stance seems likely, considering the distance between the handlebar and the rider seat. This riding posture could be useful for agile manoeuvres across urban environments.
NEX 2 also focuses on utility and practical applications. It has a large storage space, which can be accessed by opening the lid at the front. Other highlights include a circular instrument console, retractable footpegs, robust grab rails and a short tail section.
Performance, range, specs
Detailed specifications of Hero Vida NEX 2 have not yet been revealed. One can expect a silent, high-torque electric motor, integrated directly into the chassis. NEX 2 is expected to get a direct-drive automatic transmission. It is likely to use a lithium-ion battery pack with support for fast charging. The battery pack would be positioned lower to achieve an optimal centre of gravity.
NEX 2 could prioritize performance over maximizing range. However, considering the capabilities of current generation battery tech, a range of 100+ km is likely. While the design has been patented, there is not enough clarity about the launch timeline of NEX 2. Assuming it is launched soon, NEX 2 could be India’s first performance-oriented electric trike. However, trikes are often relatively costly in comparison to standard scooters and motorcycles. It will be interesting to see what pricing strategy Hero uses for NEX 2.
