Thinkbox’s chief marketing officer is to step down from the role, after more than two decades at the marketing body for commercial TV in the UK.

Andrew MacGillivray has been at Thinkbox since its creation in 2005, joining the team first as head of content. He was promoted to lead Thinkbox’s marketing team in 2011, and is credited with being “at the heart” of the organisation’s success.

MacGillivray’s achievements in role include masterminding Thinkbox’s award-winning TV advertising campaigns through to delivering programmes such as the TV Masters, as well playing a key role in driving the organisation’s overall strategy.

“I’ve never met anyone with such a vast array of talents coupled with equally vast humility and generosity,” says Thinkbox CEO Lindsey Clay. “Andy’s been Thinkbox’s heart, its soul, and a fair part of its brain.”

After 21 years at the organisation, MacGillivray says it is time for him to “see what the next chapter” holds.

“Twenty-one years was not the original plan, but when you’ve a working environment like I’ve had, and the endlessly fascinating and evolving world of TV to champion, it’s difficult to leave,” he says.

MacGillivray will depart his role at the end of this year. Thinkbox says it will announce MacGillivray’s successor in leading its marketing team “in due course”.
