A new platform is launching that sees intersectionality as the lens for driving insight, influence and change across marketing, advertising and the creative industries.

Created by Mums in Marketing founder Claire Ferreira and founder of strategic marketing agency Buna Street Collective, Elizabeth Anyaegbuna, The Intersection will bring together leaders, community members and champions who want to deliver change across the industry. The focus will be on celebration, learning and the power of coming together, the founding duo explain.

The Intersection will be built around a community sharing lessons and experiences from their career journeys in an open forum, as well as discussing the skills needed to drive change. The intention is to bring together community members to find solutions and share ideas that build influence, as well as promote change.

The platform will be open to anyone, from individuals already working on projects in this space, to those who want to support and learn.

“I’ve spent years building real communities,” explains Anyaegbuna. “What keeps happening is this moment when people realise their different experiences aren’t separate problems. When you root it in understanding how we all show up differently, that’s when everything deepens. They’re connected insights that make everything stronger. And it’s joyful. That’s what we’re building space for.”

The first gathering will take place on 26 January 2027, uniting leaders and community members to share conversations and celebrate existing work. The Intersection will launch its full programme, featuring talks, community-led conversations, learning and the “space to build what comes next”, later next year.

Identifying a “moment happening right now”, Anyaegbuna believes the time is right for a collective of this type to launch.

“Brands are waking up to the value of this work. People doing it know it matters. What’s been missing is the unified space where insight can be shared and influence built collectively. That’s what we’re creating,” she adds.

A former president of Bloom UK, Anyaegbuna is also co-founder of Join Our Table, a community championing visibility and equity for black women in advertising, media and marketing.

Named a Marketing Week Changemaker in 2024, The Intersection’s co-creator Ferreira is a long-standing champion of female talent, having established the award-winning Mums in Marketing (MiMs) community in 2020.

A marketer and coach with two decades of experience in the industry, Ferreira decided to create the network of supportive peers she always craved, informed by her personal experience of overcoming imposter syndrome, panic attacks and redundancy.

A free global community of more than 7,000 people and membership exceeding 700, MiMs has generated more than £35m in work gained, salary increases, new jobs, promotions and work given to other members since it was founded.
