Crumbles are a beloved dessert, and BBC Good Food has shared a standout recipe that simplifies the process of creating this delightful seasonal treat. Ideal for serving four to six people, it requires just five ingredients and 20 minutes of prep time.

After baking for an additional 50 minutes, you'll have the perfect warm dessert to enjoy on its own or with a scoop of ice cream. Described as "easy" by the culinary site, they advise: "Make this speedy fruit crumble for when guests pop over."

"It takes 20 minutes to prep, then you can leave it in the oven while you entertain," reports the Express.

Ingredients:

450g of chopped fruit

75g granulated sugar

50g cold cubed butter

100g plain flour

50g demerara sugar

Method:

Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C for fan ovens) or gas mark 4.

In a bowl, combine the fruit with granulated sugar, using less sugar if you're using canned fruit, ensuring it's well coated. Transfer this mixture into a pie dish that fits snugly.

Work the butter into the flour until you achieve a light breadcrumb consistency. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the crumble heavy.

Stir in the demerara sugar until everything is well combined, then spread the mixture evenly over the fruit.

Bake for 35 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling and tender. Allow it to cool for five minutes before serving.
