Coca-Cola fans say they 'can't think of anything worse' over latest flavour
by Andrew Nuttall · NottinghamshireLiveCoca-Cola's decision to bring back its festive flavour in time for Christmas has sparked a debate among shoppers. A Tesco customer spotted the returning cinnamon-flavoured drink on a shelf and posted a photo of it on the Extreme Bargains and Couponing Facebook group.
While the scent of cinnamon is the scent of Christmas for some, its addition to cola hasn't been to everyone's taste. Comments ranged from outright rejection to disgust.
One person said: "No, just no!" Another added: "I can't think of anything worse!" A third questioned: "Who even buys this?"
The drink first appeared for sale in 2019 and returned again in 2020 around Christmas. It was discontinued for a short spell but is now back after a four year break, reports the Daily Record.
However, not everyone was so quick to shun the drink's return and some were intrigued by the unusual combination. One fan wrote: "Maybe it's one of those odd combos you don't know works till you try it. I like both separate so wouldn't mind trying."
Others admitted they enjoyed the seasonal variant: "I do like the cinnamon-flavoured cola, although I think it only comes out around this time of year." There were even serving suggestions, such as mixing it with Amaretto for a festive tipple.
Coca-Cola has confirmed its festive concoction will be back on shelves for Christmas, available until "the end of the year". Exclusively at Tesco, the £1.85 bottles [or £1.25 for Tesco Clubcard members] are expected to sell quickly as true fans are encouraged to stock up.
This release is set to stir emotions, just as Asda's Roast Potato Mayo did. The supermarket was met with two groups of customers that either loved or hated the idea.
