ITV confirms third series of Vicky McClure's Trigger Point set for 2025 filming

Bomb disposal drama Trigger Point will return to ITV for a third series, with Vicky McClure back in the lead role

The Vicky McClure-led drama Trigger Point is set for a comeback on ITV, with thrilling news for fans. Best known as Kate Fleming from Line Of Duty, Vicky takes centre stage as bomb expert Lana Washington in the gripping ITV series Trigger Point, which has enjoyed two successful runs and now eagerly anticipates its third instalment.

Despite this announcement, viewers will have to be patient because the production of the new series only starts in 2025, and there's not yet an official release date on the cards.

Trigger Point kicked off its first series with the shocking death of Lana's workmate Joel Nutkins. Emotions run high and risks escalate as Lana grapples with looming threats from terrorist factions within the city throughout the show.

Vicky also serves as an executive producer. Regular cast members Eric Shango, Nabil Elouahabi, Natalie Simpson, and Maanuv Thiara are all confirmed to join the ensemble once more.

In the upcoming series, the story intensifies when Lana and her colleagues encounter fresh bomb perils, with a mysterious adversary seeking retribution. The question looms: Can the Bomb Disposal Team thwart these attacks and safeguard the targets?, reports the Express.

Vicky said of the new series: "Trigger Point is back! We're all so excited to get going. Having had such a positive response to the previous two series, we want to make the next series even more exciting, keep everyone on the edge of their seats whilst getting to know even more about the brilliant characters in the show. Lana is such a complex character to play, it's a joy for an actor to play a role with as many layers as Lana."

Creator Jed Mercurio chimed in: "Thank you to all the Trigger Point viewers who have made the series such a success. Thanks to our fantastic crew and brilliant cast led by the amazing Vicky McClure. We're thrilled ITV, together with All3Media International, have commissioned a third season of twists, turns, bangs and blasts."
