BBC Strictly's Brendan Cole points out worrying detail about Pete Wicks' latest dance
by Aisha Nozari · NottinghamshireLiveSaturday night heralded the much-anticipated return of Strictly Come Dancing's legendary Blackpool show. Pete Wicks took to the stage with his professional partner Jowita Przystal, yet Brendan Cole, a former pro on the hit BBC show, expressed concerns about their performance in a recent interview.
The latest episode of the ballroom contest saw Wynne Evans and his partner Katya Jones bow out after facing Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe in the dance-off. Meanwhile, former TOWIE star Pete earned 27 points from the judges for his Cha-cha-cha with Jowita.
Broadcasting live from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom on Saturday, audiences were treated to a spectacle by The Pet Shop Boys and witnessed the celebrities and their partners deliver lavish routines. However, Brendan suggested that Pete's latest dance was his least impressive so far.
Speaking to Sky Vegas, he remarked: "I didn't love his [Pete Wicks'] number on the weekend, but it wasn't bad enough [to be voted out]."
Despite noting that Saturday marked Pete's 'worst' performance, Brendan did share some optimism, adding: "Obviously, the audience were on board, because he's making it through. Potentially, in the next few weeks, he could really do something quite special. Saturday night was probably one of his worst dances – if he was going to go, last night would have been the night for it to happen.", reports the Mirror.
Over the weekend, Miranda's Sarah Hadland and her dance partner Vito Coppola, alongside Love Island's Tasha Ghouri with Aljaž Škorjanec, topped Saturday night's Strictly leaderboard, each scoring 39 points. However, it was opera singer Wynne who bid farewell to the show.
Reflecting on his journey during an emotional appearance on 'It Takes Two', Wynne expressed: "It's been wonderful, I've got to say. I feel like it's what Strictly is all about. If I can come and do Strictly and last until week nine, then anybody can get out there and dance and have a brilliant time. Strictly is such a brilliant family, such a precious family, that I want everybody here in this room and at home to look after it for the generations to come because it is a wonderful, wonderful thing."
Katya also chimed in, saying: "This is what Strictly is about, no one is going to remember the scores or the comments you got. It's the friendships they create on the show and genuine relationships. I'm so glad you had each other."
The heartfelt moment led to Wynne breaking down in tears, prompting host Fleur East to hurriedly search for tissues.
