Over the last couple of years air fryers have become more and more popular, to the point where you could go into almost anybody's kitchen and they would probably have one. However, when the buzz first began many people weren't too sure about these devices that saved cooking time and energy bills, so probably opted for a smaller or cheaper version in case it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

One of the most popular brands for shoppers is Ninja, with the company having all sorts of different models, sizes and cooking mode options. However, these are usually not the cheapest options, which means if you are after one it is important to do your research in advance so as soon as they go on sale you can snap one up.

Amazon currently has the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer reduced from its retail price of £239.99 to £159.99. This is an impressive discount of 33 per cent, which will only last until the end of Wednesday, October 10, as part of the Prime Big Deal Days.

This particular black and copper model has a 9.5 litre capacity, two independent cooking zones, dishwasher-safe parts and it comes with a pair of tongs. Plus, it also has six different cooking functions, so you can use it to air fry, crisp, roast, bake, reheat and dehydrate.

It could also help you save up to 65 per cent on your energy bill, which was calculated based on the recommended cooking time for sausages using the air fryer instead of conventional ovens. There is also a black and silver version of the air fryer, but Amazon has this on sale for £210, so it is not as good of a deal.

With all of this, it is no surprise that the appliance has more than 31,100 reviews on Amazon and a 4.8-star rating. One happy customer wrote: "The best thing about this product is that it pays for itself through energy savings Since getting this Ninja my deep fat fryer is now obsolete, my grill is almost obsolete and my oven hasn't been used since."

Another said: "My best purchase. Completely changed the way I cook meals. No more oven unless preparing huge meals for family & friends. Easy to clean cooks food quickly. No waiting around to heat up. Functions are very clear and easy to use. Well worth the money bought on sale too."

However, one shopper was not impressed and explained: "I recently bought this and strictly food-wise it’s all I’ve ever dreamt of. But the beeping sound is already driving me crazy. It’s the most annoying, loud-pitched beep!

"And it happens whenever you do anything. Start it, pause it, stop it. The only way to turn off the sound is to open it up and remove parts from inside the machine, thus voiding the warranty."

Someone else felt it was good but not worth the big price tag. Stating: "Got to be honest I upgraded to the ninja - don’t really see that much difference - not worth the price difference."

Not everyone can afford to splurge hundreds of pounds on an air fryer, so we have also found some more affordable options that can do the trick. The Cookworks 9L Dual Air Fryer is available at Argos and has been discounted to £80 instead of £100.

It also has different cooking functions, such as heating up, slow cook, grill, bake, roast, air fry and keeping warm and two cooking draws. For £79.99 you could also get your hands on the LOGIK L72AFB23 Air Fryer at Currys, which was recently reduced from £129.99.

This air fryer has a capacity of 7.6 litres, removable baskets, a digital display and timer, as well as six preset functions.
