Woman claims we've been opening ketchup bottles wrong for years - and it's so easy to do it correctly
by Sam Cooper, Katie-Ann Gupwell · NottinghamshireLiveBrits have a well-known love affair with ketchup, slathering it on everything from chips to chicken nuggets and even adding it to sandwiches. However, many might be surprised to learn they've been opening their ketchup bottles incorrectly for years.
The excitement of cracking open a new bottle can often be marred by the struggle to remove the seal under the lid, which keeps the sauce fresh. People frequently resort to using knives or scissors to pry off the stubborn sticker, which is difficult to lift with just fingernails.
But, as it turns out, all that effort has been in vain because there's a far simpler method. A TikTok user known as lalifehacks, who regularly shares useful tips, has revealed a trick that has left users astonished. In her latest video, she demonstrates that many people "definitely don't know" about this straightforward technique.
She shows viewers how to unscrew the bottle cap and then use the hole in the cap to pierce the seal, creating an opening for the sauce to flow through easily when the bottle is squeezed. This revelation means that years of struggling with the seal were unnecessary, reports the Mirror.
The social media user didn't stop there; she also provided a clever way to repurpose the ketchup bottle. By cleaning the bottle and filling it with pancake batter, she illustrates how it can be transformed into a convenient dispenser, allowing for the creation of perfectly portioned pancakes in a frying pan.
The video, which has raked in over 14,000 views since it was posted, sparked a lively discussion among viewers. While some were intrigued by the theory shared in the footage, opinions were split.
One viewer expressed their enthusiasm, remarking: "Cool, I'll definitely remember this." A seasoned veteran of the technique said: "Been doing this for years."
Another fan praised the social media platform, commenting: "TikTok is better than going to university." However, some were not so easily swayed, with one sceptic pointing out: "If you were supposed to do that, they wouldn't put an easy to pull flap on it."
Another simply suggested: "Or you could just take the paper."
