Coronation Street fans have been left questioning who stole Damon Hay's cash after it was revealed it was missing, with Sarah Platt convinced she knows who is to blame

Coronation Street may have hinted at the real culprit behind the theft of Damon Hay's cash, which was revealed to have been stolen on Friday night. Sarah Platt discovered that her criminal ex had offered her thousands of pounds to cover her daughter Bethany Platt's medical expenses.

Bethany found herself in a life-threatening situation overseas following a failed cosmetic procedure, and Damon got wind of it. The character made his comeback to the soap when Sarah's ex Adam Barlow paid him a visit in jail.

He'd listened to Damon's voicemail message for Sarah, where he proposed giving her the money he'd stashed away, retrieved during an armed robbery. Adam initially kept this information from Sarah, only to disclose everything this week as Sarah's mother Gail Platt contemplated selling her house to fund the treatment.

Upon learning about this, Sarah was taken aback but later chose to confront Damon directly. As Damon expected gratitude, it quickly became clear that the money was gone.

Damon had been informed that the money had been taken from the lock-up where it was hidden, and he assumed Sarah had picked it up. So when Sarah expressed confusion and admitted she hadn't touched the money, Damon was alarmed, reports the Mirror.

He confirmed the money was missing, leading Sarah to insist that she wasn't responsible. She clarified that she'd only just learned about the money and hadn't been near it.

This left Damon enraged and questioning who had taken it, with some viewers suspecting Adam.

In a surprising turn of events, it might not be Adam who's involved in the theft as upcoming spoilers reveal his astonishment at the twist. The plot also suggests two other characters could be implicated, with one facing accusations.

Sarah is quick to point the finger at Adam for swiping Damon's money from the lock-up, but he firmly denies any involvement. Daniel Osbourne is also questioned and found not guilty.

While Adam suspects Damon's cousin, having been the last to "check on it", Sarah has another suspect in mind. Adam inadvertently reveals that Jesse Chadwick, who recently returned, might have eavesdropped on him and Daniel talking about Damon's secret stash.
