BBC Strictly Come Dancing star fumes 'get rid' as they call for change to results
by Hayley Anderson · NottinghamshireLiveA star of Strictly Come Dancing has called for a change to the much-loved television dance contest, suggesting a key part of the show be "scrapped".
The hit BBC dance extravaganza made its primetime appearance once more this evening, Sunday, November 10, with hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman poised to announce who would dance through to the next week's performances.
Surviving the cut and gliding into the following week were EastEnders' Jamie Borthwick and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas, having impressed with their striking Argentine Tango to the Arctic Monkey's track Do I Wanna Know? in Saturday's spectacular.
The tension heightened as Wynne Evans and Katya Jones found themselves heading towards the menacing dance-off, while Claudia engaged with those contestants already given the green light for the next round courtesy of the public vote, reports the Mirror.
When Jamie, the soap actor, took his turn to converse with Claudia, he used the moment to express his feelings about an aspect of the competition's structure. Claudia queried: "Jamie, I know you are incredibly close to Wynne so for you, is this bittersweet?" Jamie responded with emotion: "Yeah it is a bit. You know, it's such a strong competition and it would have been a shock anyone being in that dance-off tonight."
He went on, revealing his discontent: "I wish we could all go to Blackpool, it's so horrible that someone's got to go. I think we should just scrap that rule." Adding a touch of humour to the situation, comedian Chris McCausland jestingly remarked: "It's a terrible show isn't it?" prompting chuckles from his fellow stars.
Jamie concurred fervently: "It is! It ruins the show!" which was met with Claudia's deadpan promise: "I'll tell the boss."
Last night's episode was an emotionally charged affair, with the celebrities giving it their all in anticipation of next week's highly anticipated show at Blackpool's iconic Ballroom Tower.
Former The Only Way is Essex star Pete Wicks and his partner Jowita Przystal took to the floor for their Couple's Choice, delivering a poignant contemporary-style routine to Nicotine Dolls' The Best. In a heart-wrenching VT preceding their performance, Pete revealed that he was dedicating the dance to his late grandmother, and was visibly overcome with emotion as the music drew to a close.
The pair's emotive performance earned them an impressive 36 points, but one of the evening's most memorable moments came courtesy of blind comedian Chris McCausland and his partner Dianne Buswell. Their Couple's Choice routine to John Lennon's Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) featured a powerful blackout moment, offering a glimpse into Chris's experience of dancing each week.
The judges were clearly moved, awarding them 33 points, with Shirley Ballas struggling to hold back tears as she praised Chris for wearing his "heart on your sleeve". Craig Revel Horwood described the moment as "poignant", highlighting the impact of Chris's performance.
