Ola Aina gives Nottingham Forest response to fresh contract question

Nottingham Forest full-back Ola Aina has given his response to rumours over a new long-term contract at the City Ground

Ola Aina remained coy when asked if he will be signing a rumoured long-term contract at Nottingham Forest, but says he 'feels at home' at a 'fantastic' club such as this one.

An excellent start to the campaign both Forest and for the full-back individually has already prompted suggestions he is to be rewarded with an extended stay with the club. It was only in the summer that the former Chelsea youth agreed a one-year extension through to next summer having impressed in 22 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, ahead of which he had joined as a free agent.

So given the opportunity, BBC Radio Nottinghamshire asked Aina personally whether these negotiations are taking place. Whilst nothing official away, his response was highly positive of his current status and trajectory of the club.

"All I can say is I am really happy at Forest. Fantastic club, I feel at home and we're just building," said the 27-year-old, adding: "I'm building, the club's building. Let's just see what happens in the future."

His strong performance last weekend aided the effort that secured a historic 1-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield to remain unbeaten four matches into the new campaign - a stark change in fortunes from the team Aina was a part of last season.

"It [the mood around the club] is really good, you know, we're just building from last season," he added about life at the City Ground.

"Last season was difficult at times but the mood and energy around the club was still positive and I feel like we've built on that. There is definitely a good feeling around the club because we've started well and we just want to build on each performance every week.

"We've always been together. Going through those difficulties last season has helped bring the team together, but even without those difficulties I think we're a close-knit team and it does show on the pitch. We're ready to fight for each other and do that extra bit of each other."
