£65 portable heater that's 'super quiet' on sale for £42 as part of Amazon deal

Now that it's October the temperature has started to drop and the days are getting shorter. Although many of us will be fighting the urge to put the heating on, there are only so many layers of jumpers and socks someone can put on before they look ridiculous.

One way to avoid putting the heating on just yet but keeping your home defrosted is by getting a portable room heater. Rather than heating up your entire house, you can use an electric heater to just keep whichever room or rooms you are in nice and warm.

Amazon currently has a great offer on the Dreo Electric Heater, which is a silent portable device with three different modes. It also has overheat and tip-over protection. Usually this heater would cost £64.99, but it is currently on offer for 35 per cent off at £42.49. The product has more than 2,600 reviews on Amazon and an overall rating of 4.5 stars.

One recent review states: "Intuitive controls and quality construction. Useful for a blast of heat as needed or to warm up my small home office when central heating is set to low." Another customer wrote: "Excellent little heater does not take up space gives off some heat, warm the room in no time the noise level is super quiet for a fan type heater. I’m a light sleeper but slept peacefully - all round very good heater."

However, one review warns that "the buttons on the top are very difficult to see." Another shopper stated: "The area where the heat actually comes from is very small and not wide range, it’s also not too powerful so doesn’t heat up too much and just blows directly straight heat, not around or up etc."

This comes as Amazon prepares to launch its Prime Big Deal Days on Tuesday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 9. The two days will have a significant number of limited-time deals just for Prime members, and with Christmas just around the corner, it will be a great time to grab a bargain.

A similar product to the portable heater is the De'Longhi Capsule Hobby 2.4kW Fan Heater at Argos, which costs £55. This heater has two heat settings and can be used all year round as it also has a cool air function for summer ventilation.

The device also has a 4.5 star rating and more than 70 reviews, with one customer stating: "A smashing little heater perfect for topping up on the odd occasion. Quiet and small. We use the fan in the summer to keep us cool in our summerhouse."

An even more affordable option is the 500W Fine Elements Mini Convector Heater for £16 at Dunelm. This compact heater is great for small spaces, can maintain temperatures between 3 and 30C and has an adjustable anti-frost thermostat.

One happy shopper stated: "Really handy to take the edge off a cool room very quickly and maintain quite low afterwards. Cute little heater. Heater can get hot (obviously) so beware pets & children."
