Philippine Army receives 11 mobile laboratory vans
by Alexis Romero · philstarMANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army has received 11 mobile laboratory vans through First Lady Liza Marcos’ Lab for All Program, a move seen to make health care services more accessible to soldiers, especially those assigned in remote areas.
The vans were formally turned over at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City last Wednesday in partnership with Robinsons Land Foundation Inc.
In a Facebook post uploaded yesterday, Liza said bringing health care services closer to infantry divisions would help ensure that soldiers and their families receive timely medical care and early disease detection.
“Behind every uniform is a Filipino who serves with courage, sacrifice and love for the country. Many of our soldiers spend long periods away from their families, often assigned to the most remote areas to keep our nation safe,” she said. “This is why these 11 mobile laboratory vans matter... After all, caring for those who protect us is one meaningful way of honoring their sacrifice.”
Liza said the initiative supports President Marcos’ push to bring health care closer to communities.
Army chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete welcomed the donation, saying it would boost the welfare of troops and the communities they serve.
He added that the donation would inspire soldiers to remain committed to their mission while improving access to health care services.
Robinsons Land Corp. chairman Lance Gokongwei and Army chief surgeon Col. Santiago Rodriguez Jr. also attended the turnover ceremony.
