Honda Activa e: and QC1 have been revealed with a ride range of just over 100 km on a single charge

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has today announced the launch of its maiden electric scooters for the domestic market at an event in Bengaluru. The Activa e: draws significant design inspiration from the globally available Honda CUV e: as well as the ICE Activa and it features swappable battery technology.

Like the CUV e:, the e-Activa utilises a dual-battery setup with Honda Power Pack India units, ensuring quick and convenient battery swaps for extended range and usability. The Honda CUV e: is designed as an electric scooter equivalent to a 110 cc model and the same applies for the India-spec duo.

The e-motor produces a peak power output of 6 kW, enabling a claimed top speed of 80 kmph. The Honda Activa EV shares this motor with the CUV e:. There is the inclusion of a seven-inch TFT instrument console, akin to the CUV e:. The Honda QC1 caters to diverse buyer preferences by offering an LCD display on its lower variants, making it a more budget-friendly choice with a range of around 80 km with a fixed battery.

It also includes three ride modes – Standard, Sport, and Econ. With a claimed range of over 100 km per charge, the Activa e: is set to rival established competitors such as the Ola S1 series, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and the recently introduced Ather Rizta and its prices will be announced in January 2025.

The Honda Activa EV’s design draws inspiration from the CUV e:. Teasers have revealed key features such as an LED headlamp, which enhances both style and functionality. Honda is likely to adopt an aggressive pricing strategy for the Activa EV, targeting mass-market appeal to secure a prominent position in the booming electric scooter segment.

Honda has established 84 swap stations across Bengaluru and in the first phase the models will be available in New Delhi and Mumbai before other cities. The brand will be using the existing Red Wing dealerships to sell these electric scooters. The fixed battery model will be available nationwide, and authorised outlets will handle service activities.

To offer peace of mind, Honda offers three free services for the first year and a standard 3-year or 50,000 km warranty along with 1-year RSA has been provided for swappable and fixed models. A Care Plus additional package has also been made available. Honda has introduced the ‘RoadSync Duo’ application that connects to the consoles of the e-scooters.

Features such as vehicle diagnostics, accept/reject call, OTA updates, music navigation, swap battery location, etc can be noted from the app. Booking will commence on January 1, 2025 for the Honda Activa e: and QC1 ahead of deliveries in February 2025.
